Can't wait to listen to the next on the series. I have devoured the first 4 audiobooks in the Veil series in a week!

Each book is better than the previous one

This series gets better and better. I love how the characters keep growing and changing. There was a little sadness in this book that I wasn't expecting. But, I see why it was necessary. I can't wait to see how things evolve in the next book.

Painfully Good!

If you could sum up Drowning in the Dark in three words, what would they be?

Ice-cream. Heartbreak. Devastation.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters, without a doubt. They are so well crafted they feel like real people. Every single one of them has redeeming qualities, and none are painted exclusively in black or white. They do what they must, for reasons that are perfectly justifiable from their points of view, and they fail. Don't get me wrong, there are some hard earned victories but it is so well constructed that you will never be completely sure of who'll walk out of a battle alive, who will die, and who will get out of it with a fate worse than death.

Which scene was your favorite?

I can't tell (because it would spoil it) but it is the first scene involving ice-cream (and there is a lot of ice-cream in this book).

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! I wish I could have.

Any additional comments?

This series keeps getting better. Even when I thought it would disappoint me at a specific scene, it turned things around, and gripped my attention right back with newfound glee.
The book ended in such way that left me half-desperate for the next (and last) one, and I can almost taste its greatness.

Sleeper Series. That is outstanding

Can you say marathon. I could not sleep without these books. I spent every moment trying to see what was going to happen next. I felt confused and conflicted as the characters. I agreed and disagreed with there decisions at the same time. Finally, it is my believe that any book that brings you in so completely that you are dripping tears for the characters lost is excellent. It speaks to a job well done. This was indeed a great series. And this is a great book. I want everyone to read it so we can discuss it.

Great Book #4

Love this series. I haven't read one in this series in several months, but it was easy to pick up the story where the last book left off. There is enough mention of previous events to bring me back in line. Pippa is an excellent author. She does a great job with the story line and the characters. The narrator does a great job as well.

I was lost in this book!

I can't get enough of these books. off to buy book #5 I am a fan girl and it is glorious.

Interesting story line

I was intrigued by the story line and characters. The primary character is a bit winey but overall interesting. I enjoyed the interplay between her and the various characters. The idea that our world and hell are only a veil apart was intriguing. I look forward to reading the rest of the stories. Luckily all five are now available. Onward to the next.

The series is great

The story moves along well. I just find the books too short. I've downloaded all 5.

Loved it. Even my second time through. Great characters and very entertaining story. I have all of them, wish there was more.

Fantasy - DaCosta Style

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would absolutely recommend this audiobook - the story itself is stellar. The characters are well developed, the sense of "realities" in the locations are fully fleshed out. There is the benefit of being able to drown out traffic, conversation on the train - definitely awesome.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Drowning in the Dark?

One of the most memorable moments in this book was when Akil watches Muse fighting the lesser demon in the alley. It was memorable because Akil is speaking to himself, admitting that nothing in his existence has or would ever help him to understand Muse. Everything that he is telling himself is about he loves her without using those words. He talks about how he needs her and while he gets his wants, he doesn't understand this need to possess her - to expel Damian from her and join with her himself, both with her soul and physically. The fact that this prince of hell isn't supposed to feel, but reveals how much he does love Muse - that this is beyond his being the Prince of Greed, this is something more. More.

What does Hollie Jackson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her characterizations and ability to become the characters themselves was spectacular! I was very impressed because even if there wasn't something spoken to indicate who would be speaking - the characters were easily identifiable just from the different "voices".

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen to this book all in one sitting. I downloaded the bundle of the first three books in late May, but didn't start listening until about a week ago. Immediately I went online and downloaded this next book in the series - no way was I going to wait any longer than necessary! LOL! I'm an immediate gratification girl! :-)

Any additional comments?

This book was as good, if not better, than it's predecessors. What an amazing series and I am so happy to have found it - wish I'd found it sooner, but then I would have had to wait for the other books to come out so maybe from that perspective it was worth finding it all at once now. Only bad thing about that is that the series is now over - hoping Ms. DaCosta finds a way to bring Akil back! :))
