Lovely

I'm a long-time enjoyer of romantic novels set in the olden times, but finding those with lgbtq+ themes, especially with happy endings, is not easy. This book ticks all the boxes. There are hoop skirts, plots to both marry and not to marry well, and a truly happy ending. The story is a pure delight. It is a bit of a fairytale, since things surely didn't always work out perfectly in real life, but if you're looking for a period romance with sapphic main characters, this is for you.

An historical sapphic love story that feels genuine

First of all, I would listen to Mary Jane Wells read a phone book, and this was vastly more entertaining than that! If you’re looking for high-spice, this isn’t the book for you—it’s open door, but the book isn’t overly laden with sex scenes. As for the plot? Well, the parent trap was one of my favorite movies as a kid, so this book melted my cold lesbian heart ❤️ the emotions and intimacy felt genuine to me in the context of Victorian London, where 20 year old ladies wouldn’t have had much exposure to anything queer. And now I am counting the days until the next book comes out in August! 🥲

Witty banter, great secondary cast of characters, and a plot that moves at a perfect pace to keep you ready for the next beat. This is in my favorites!

Not without drama or hoops to jump but this is a sincerely happy ending. So grateful to have a fairytale queer period piece! I cannot wait for the next book!

Getting Your Parents Hitched So You Can Date Your Step-Sister

Enough said in the title. Though I did enjoy the queer version of Bridgerton. I am excited to read the sequel.

Can't sing enough praise!!!

This book blew me away! I came across a video by the author online teasing it before the book released. I got it on Audible as soon as I could and I was not disappointed. The characters feel well developed and relatable, the plot feels flushes out, and I couldn't get enough of the twists and turns. I also was able to guess the set up for the second book and I am so excited for it. The narration was amazing. You could hear the emotion in every line, unlike some other audiobooks I've listened to. Overall, I am so happy I found that random video online and that it brought me here. I can't wait to see what else the author comes up with in the future!

Obsessed!

If you like Bridgeton and the parent trap it’s that vibe plus sapphic. I went in blind, and absolutely loved it. The story tells me captivated the whole way through, and I was rooting for them so hard I will serve. The supply of the parents truly made extra special. Seeing them both get their happy endings literally filled me up with butterflies. Some of the tropes include first love, queer awakening enemies to lovers Second Chance, and so much more the narrators. Did an amazing job at really bringing the story to life probably one of my favorite reads of the year. Also it is so swift it coded and I loved hearing all the little easter eggs. Definitely recommend it was such a cute and fun read.
