Resumen del Editor

Karina Halle, the New York Times bestselling author of Discretion, lifts the veil off a privileged family dynasty to reveal a wealth of secrets and dangerous obsessions.

Seraphine Dumont seems to have it all: she’s gorgeous, brilliant, and part of one of France’s most illustrious dynasties. But underneath the facade, Seraphine struggles to hold it all together. Besides grieving her adoptive father’s suspicious and sudden death, she also shares a tenuous role in the family business with Blaise, her in-name-only cousin. As tumultuous as their history is, he may be the only member of the deceptive Dumont family she can trust.

Seraphine is a temptation Blaise can’t resist. The torch he’s carried for years still burns. It’s his secret - a quiet obsession just out of reach. Until his brother demands that he spy on the increasingly cagey Seraphine, whom their father considers a dispensable Dumont outlier. But the more Blaise watches her and the closer he gets, the more he sees Seraphine may have every right to be suspicious. And she could be the next one in danger - from his own family.

As blood runs hot and hearts give in, Seraphine and Blaise have only each other. But can their love survive the secrets they’re about to uncover?

Seraphine and Blaise's story is here.

Disarm is book 2 of the Dumonts series bringing us Seraphine and Blaise's story.

Overall, I enjoyed this one, it was a bit slow here and there as the story goes on, but things got pretty suspenseful towards the end.

There is a taboo element of sorts that felt a little off to me, they are cousins, but not blood related... If you want to get technical. But the fact that it was constantly mentioned that they were indeed cousins throughout the whole book, it felt unnecessary to me.

I'm soooo glad we got a happily ever after and it's such a change to see Blaise so at peace, and just happy. And I do love seeing them both together. Seraphine has faced and lost so much, but she remained resilient through it all.

I'm rather curious about Pascal's story, he's a character I want to know more about.

Narratorts: It was my first time listening to both narrators, I don't think I've ever listened to an audio with characters that have French accents. Definitely enjoyed the narration.

Argh these bittersweet feels!

Finally! I finally got through this book and am so glad I got to enjoy this in my own time and at my own pace. The minute it came out I wanted to devour it whole, but something held me back from doing just that. So, I waited. and it paid off.
I fell in love with the love between the two protagonists. It was pure and singular and consuming. What a rush! Karina Halle is a talented and versatile writer.

Ehh

Kinda boring. She was a whiny mess and he was a …I don’t know what. And really…when are the bad guys gonna get their comeuppance?
And when they do it better be good cause I’m many hours invested in this. Going to book three.

FANTASTIC Heroine!!

This might be the book where I preferred the heroine over the hero!!! After Discretion, I was excited to get Seraphine and Blaise’s story after only getting glimpses that something was happening between them from Olivier’s POV.

Seraphibe’s heartbreaking childhood proves that pain and grief while sad are not signs of weakness. She is saved from her broken history in an orphanage and foster care by the Dumont family. She’s given all the riches and superiority that comes with the Dumont name. But, she is also for the first time in her life
given a real family and love.
However, not all Dumonts feel the same towards a foster child. Her Uncle and his family feel that only the bloodline should benefit from the Dumont name
and often seem threatened by Seraphine. Except for Blaise. Although, he doesn’t treat her with kindness that the rest of her family does he does show hints of being softer towards Seraphine and even small bits of affection. However, there’s a battle between his emotions towards her, how his father feels towards her and also the small fact that she is his cousin...not by blood, but cousin nonetheless.

Together the two of them navigate the complicated truths of their families and who stands where.

Disarmed by the eargams

I can't even pretend that the accents don't make me melt. i honestly was giddy to hear that they had true to the story accents. It takes it up a notch knowing the author/producer/whoever decided it was a must!

Seraphine and Blaise are brought alive by these narrators. I'm still smiling and it's all their doing.

Disarm is my favorite of the series so far. I'm not sure if it's the taboo aspect, the enemies to lovers, or all of the above. Just know that where the Dumonts are trouble isn't far behind.

i can't wait for the truth to come out!

Disarm

Seraphine Dumont is positive her father was murdered and will do anything to prove it. Blaise and her have always had a connection, more than cousins, even though they are not related by blood, and throughout the book we get a look back and forth through their history. Now, they are brought together by intrigue and danger and finally cannot deny the truth.

Enemies to lovers

The Dumont story continues this time with the two who have always felt like outsiders with their families. Compared to the first book I would say this one is a slow burn. Their feelings start off when they are teens and many years pass before anything other than hate happens. The story is told mostly in the present but we do get the past in both POVs. We slowly unravel the events of the first book. Of course by slowly we still don't know the how but we do understand more of the why. I do wish there was more romance like in book one but overall I still enjoyed it. Of course I will continue on because I love a good villain and I'm sure there is more to Pascal than meets the eye.

Narration was once again amazing by John Lane! The female narrator also did a great job and had no issue switching between accents.

Great narration for an action packed book

The narration for this book is top notch! I loved Blaise and Seraphine’s story, and I was hooked from the very start. There is a lot going on in this book, from the beginning of a forbidden romance to the ruthless actions of a powerful family. There’s mystery, drama, and an electrifying love story. Very well done and I can’t wait to read Pascal’s story.
