Defending Chloe

Ronan was minding his own business when Chloe was spotted walking on his property many miles from the nearest town. He knew something was up when he spotted the bruises on her skin. But he couldn't do anything at that time. After she was gone he couldn't get her out of his mind. When he and friends went to find out if she was being abused and doing things against her will. He and his fellow Mountain Mercenaries helped women and children to escape the men who would harm them. When he finds out that her brother was a member of a local mob they had to be careful not to start a turf war. Then came the chance to get her away from her brother all bets are off. Will the mob bosses allow this with no war? Or is there more to the plot her brother has in using and abusing women without the mob's approval? I enjoyed the narration, it kept me listening to the very end.

Loved the passion

I had a great time listening to this book it had action and romance my favorite things I love the 6 guys and their leaders the women were strong and nobody deserves her brother the characters and narrators were excellent and I always had the end to come thank you the author

These guys are strong strong and fierce, finding women who can hold their own and be a force to reckon with. Together they find love and great a bond that cannot be broken.

4.5 Rollercoaster Stars!

This book had my blood pressure on a roller coaster! I'm such a sucker for a hero rescuing the damsel in distress and for the evil character to get what's coming to him. This is one of those stories.

The Mountain Mercenaries are a team consistent of former military men of all walks of life. Their goal is to infiltrate and disband any organization that is hurting women and children. They are a secret group and on their down time, they have jobs that allow them to be gone when they need to go on missions.

Ro's public job is a mechanic. We first meet Chloe when she comes walking up to his garage asking for a phone to use. She is wearing ill fitting clothes and he notices a bruise on her back. Add in a spark of interest and Ro can't help but pursue Chloe's situation. What he finds out has him jumping in with both feet to rescue her. This scene did happen at the end of Defending Allye but you do not have to read that book first. Both books can be read as a standalone.

Chloe's brother has overtaken her life and made her a prisoner. The demands he puts her on have her desperate to escape. When Ro walks in to the strip club her brother owns, she finally has hope that someone will help her.

We learn in the beginning a few key facts and the reasons for why Chloe's brother has made her a prisoner in his life. Chloe has no idea and neither do the Mountain Mercenaries at first. This knowledge had me on edge. I wanted Ro to find out what was going on so bad that I was shaking my kindle at times. I honestly just couldn't wait for the truth to come out and for Chloe's brother to get what was coming to him.

I admit, this made for a pretty exciting read and that has me very impatient for the next book. I borrowed the audiobook on Kindle Unlimited and the narrator was fantastic. I highly recommend the audiobook.

Always captivating story!

I always look forward to days that Susan Stoker books are released. Have them all and enjoy so much. Plots are intriguing, characters are so interesting, love the suspense, romance, everything!

Well.... that was amazing!

I love this series. Susan is always able to make you get lost in the words to the point where you forget to eat. Though, that could just be me. If so, it’s okay.

Ro and Chloe are an awesome power alone, each having their own strengths and weaknesses but when you toss them together, they mold themselves into what they to handle their business. To is a man that’s hard to say no to, as Chloe quickly finds out.

When he finds her, in need and I’m a position to be harmed he does the only thing he can. He derives a plan, executes it and makes sure that he desired outcome is the one he wants. I can’t say there aren’t variables that make other things happen but, the man is a force to be recommend with.

He hasn’t known Chloe long but he lays all of his cards on the table and vows to do anything he can to keep her safe and away from the hellacious life her brother has in store for her.

Mercy is a gift he’s not willing to give to anyone that hurts his girl.

A great story that really pulls you in.

WOW a tough start when listening, I don't think I have been that mad in a long time. Just in the first chapter if you had given me a gun I would have taken care of Chloe's brother myself and jail be damn. I was to made I almost cut the audio off but decided to give it another chapter and I am glad I did. What poor Chloe and the other women went through really made me made and I do realize this kind of stuff goes on in real life and it really gets to me. After getting through the first few chapters I really enjoyed the story, it has a great plot with wonderful characters, there are a few surprises, a lot of chills and even a few thrills. Chloe's brother was a very evil man and I wish I could have seen what they did to him. I know this was just a story but the author really got inside my head, which many can't do, but Chloe became real to me. The author really touched a place in me that not many can do. This was a great book and my hats off to the author for really getting me going.

The narrator did a good job, I really didn't care for Rex's voice I liked it better in the first book but beside that I thought she did a great job. There were no repeating of words, no volume changes, there were a couple of places where she paused to long at the end of chapters but besides that it was good. Her character voice are good, her normal voice is very pleasant. You always know who is talking and what they are feeling, when Chloe had a hand over her mouth the narrator made it sound that way. She gives emotions and really makes you feel a part of the audio.

Bottom line this was a great audio that really pulled me in, making me feel emotions I really didn't want to feel.

Another awesome story in this series.

I am loving this series so far! Ro and Chloe are adorable together and they have an amazing chemistry. This book like most of Susan’s books reads like a hallmark movie with some spice and mafia drama. The on thing I can say I didn’t like was that sometimes Chloe was really weak and she was letting her younger brother push her around but was overall a really likable character. Ro wasn’t as alpha male as Gray and I actually preferred the way he was with Chloe, he had no problem showing emotion and I really loved him. I will for sure be reading the next story! As always Stella Bloom did wonderful with the narration and I hope she continues to narrate the rest of the stories.
