Resumen del Editor

When the townspeople of Lochdubh begin receiving poison-pen letters, no one takes them very seriously, even if they are full of wild accusations. But Hamish fears that they might lead to something deadly. His instincts prove correct when the town's postmistress is found hanging from a rope with a poison-pen letter at her feet. Though it appears to be a suicide, Hamish suspects something more sinister. Attempting to trace the letters, the last thing Hamish needs is any distractions, but soon Jenny Ogilvie arrives in Lochdubh determined to seduce him. Realizing that she is unable to take Hamish's mind off his case, Jenny decides to do a little investigating of her own. Hamish finds himself in a race to solve the mystery of the poison-pen letters before someone else dies, including one likely target - Jenny.

I absolutely loved this story, great narration too

This is a great story. it captured my interest from the first few words. I love that it is set in modern times, I love the richness and depth of the characters. Many people are not what they seem on the surface. I love the main characters, they're not perfect, but who is? very entertaining, I recommend it highly.

Loved the ending, among other things…

(and I’ll remind my readers of my ever-growing mad crush on Graeme Malcolm…)

The story gets 4+ stars instead of the 5 usually earned by most of M.C.B.’s books (in my book) because it arrived at its denouement in a somewhat convoluted way. There are too many characters with too many subplots, some popping up almost too conveniently.
Yet — I enjoyed listening to the book and, especially, witnessing the changing relationship between Hamish and Elspeth. It’s about time, guys (regardless of what happens in subsequent books).

Again nice characters

The chemistry between the characters, the cleverness of Hamish, and the locations keep me looking forward to the next book!

Good one

I’ve read quite a few of MC Beaton’s works. I enjoyed Death of a Poison Pen more than some of the other works. The characters were interesting and the plot was not too predictable.
Graeme Malcolm is absolutely delightful to listen to as narrator.

Twists and Turns

Another perfectly satisfying romp from MC Beaton. Enjoyed it just as much on this third listen as the first two.

always a winner

I am quite addicted to the Hamish Mc Beth series. Always a winner in characters, plot, and that Scottish touch.

Like a favorite music group

I’ve heard most of the Hamish books and listen repetitively as I would a vinyl album when I was younger. There’s a few hundred elements that MCB includes in nearly every book and I look forward to them like a favorite guitar chord.
Most of the guest stars (single book appearances) are loopy in some way and Jenny is no exception. I think this book is slightly above average for cozy consistency but maybe lacks excitement or tension.
(I also enjoy the many reviews, opinions and viewpoints of other listeners. Throw in your tuppence.)
