Hex and Vusi are back - oh the goat too
I enjoy 5-hour books, anything longer becomes a saga. Right off the bat the actions start. Our beloved characters Hex and Vusi are in battle. Sholto Gun is full of snark and attitude. Vusi, his faithful side kick continues making puerile comments to get on Hex’s nerves.
Father Cooney gets Hex to rescue a girl from the Church of The Forever Family headed by a charlatan cult leader, Pastor Ryder. Pastor Ryder becomes envious of the magic of our heroes. He sends his right-hand man out to find their source.
Hex gets a call from his uncle. Someone is distributing spell charms, call fantab. The Dark Brethren does not approve of someone muscling in on their territory. The charms are putting magic in the hands of humans and killing many. While investigating the problem for the Dark Brethren, Sholto Gun shakes up a few mafia syndicates. In Hex’s world everything is fair game, it is hunt down and exterminate so why does that entail planning? He just goes in kicking ass and taking names. The fights are good and our heroes win against insurmountable odds.
Sholto Gun makes friends with his goat. Our heroes meet shifters from legends. At the Dullahan bar they meet Cayden Moriarty the leprechaun chief thief-taker and justice-bringer for the Seelie court
As usual the magic ends with a big bang. Unfortunately, it just makes Hex’s ego that much bigger.
Need more action try Project Bloodborn Series also by Craig Zerf.
