Always Amazing

Melissa Riddell is one of my favorite authors!!! This book is captivating and well written! The narrated performance is fantastic as well! Looking forward to reading/listen to more of Melissa’s books!!

Amazing story

I really enjoyed listening to this version between angels and demons. The whole book kept me hooked and wanting to know more.

Captivating

A truly captivating spicy biblically based story. I can’t say enough about this book. I expected one thing and got out something totally different and BRILLIANT! Truly loved this retelling of Cain!

Standalone romance that involves humans, angels, demons, revenge, secrets, betrayal, forgiveness and love.

This starts out like Lucifer’s story, cursed to live forever banished from heaven by the father he loved and respected. But no this is Cain’s story.

Cain lives on the human realm stealing souls for Lucifer aka Lucien’s with the hope of being among Lucien’s Chosen to gain wings so he can go to Heaven and seek revenge on his father. That is until Phoebe wanders into his lair. She doesn’t seem to be affected by his special curse and isn’t frightening or disgusted by his darkness. Instead of stealing her soul for her intrusion, he takes an interest and even protects her.

Lucien becomes intrigued with her. Malachi, Cain’s rival senses their interest in Phoebe and tries to disrupt Cain’s plans. Will Cain’s growing affection towards Phoebe protect her or will he betray her for his wings and revenge?

The story is a slow burn. The twists in Cain’s and Phoebe’s backstory was somewhat anticipated (I previously read the Hush, hush series earlier this year). I enjoyed how the subsequent story unfolded and the battles. Melissa Riddell told a very compelling story of love loss, hatred, forgiveness all wrapped up in this one book. I am excited to read more fallen angel retelling stories from this series. I like that these books can be read as a standalone since I am not a fan of cliffhangers and having to wait for books to come out. These make great palate cleansers or a quick read.

Angelina Rocca narrates the audiobook. She does a decent job with the different voices/ POVs. I am not sure if it’s me but I don’t like how she pronounces Samael (assuming that is a name of one of the characters). I prefer Sam-eye-el. Overall, I would listen to her again.
