Resumen del Editor

A man broken by despair and depression, Grant Legate finds himself in a once-in-a-lifetime situation after receiving an Ultimate Edition copy of Continue Online. All he wishes for is a distraction from the thoughts plaguing his waking hours. He dives in headfirst, unknowing of the AI's intentions. They offer him the chance to play as one of their own, a NPC deserving of a proper send off. What he discovers during the journey shakes Grant to his very core.

A fun start to a potentially amazing series!

I really enjoy these types of books. The whole idea of full immersion, true life games is extraordinarily intriguing and I hope to one day get to see this technology come to fruition.

Good book!

Great performance, and an original take to the litrpg genre. Recommend for fans of the niche, looking for a deeper look at past endless action

One of the best LitRPGs I've ever read!

Would you consider the audio edition of Continue Online Part One: Memories to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version, so I can't accurately answer this, but I definitely enjoyed the audio version.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Continue Online Part One: Memories?

can't go into too much detail without spoiling it, but I'll just ask this. In how many litmmo books does the protag have to play an NPC?

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

What's great about this book is that the characters were very well thought out. It made me think a lot about things in general. I don't personally have depression, but from many I know who do, this book seems rather accurate. And I really appreciated how this wasn't another one of those books where the character wasn't some progamer who could just figure out everything or get extremely lucky or find some major game exploit. That is my issue with 99% of the litMMO books out here. I myself am not that good at video games, but I still love them. So I was able to relate to this a lot.

Any additional comments?

If you like litMMO books, like stories about A.I., and liek stories that deal with the people in and outside of the world, this is for you. There isn't a whole ton of action packed moments, but there are a lot of very meaningful ones that help build both the worlds and outside of the game. This is the most unique and enjoyable litMMO book I have ever read. So much so that I took the time out to write this review. I barely EVER write reviews for anything.

A true study of being human

I wish I had time to praise this book the way it deserves. Grant is scary real. this is a man who shows the true nature of loss and depression. I've seen reviews for this book and the next talking about how he needs "To get over it" or he is constantly "whining". I have to wonder if anyone of them have ever experianced either crippling conditions. those who lose their loved ones in freak accident and those who suffer from depression will find grant familiar and relatable.

And this is ASIDE from the wonderful hints of exploring AI and sentience. enough so that one character aggravated me for reducing the NPCs to programs.

I was unsure of the slow burn format and twist on the usual starting for Litrpg. this is a genre Bridger for sure.

Pavi took some getting used to but mostly cuz I came from listening to kick podehl and Jeff Hays so eh. not bad once we get to Grant.

the biggest take away is that grant is human. he is a flawed and damaged character. he is HUMAN. he won't confirm to what you want just because you think him acting different would be more enjoyable. To know him and take this ride with him means accepting him and his clear but slow growth as a person, not a character archetype or trope.

I highly suggest trying this book

More Slice or life than a LITRPG

The story is not bad there is just very very very little action and no real character building like 99% of the other LITRPS

It's Less LitRPG and More About Personal Struggle

I have gone through a lot of LitRGPs and this meets the definition of the [default] genre, it's sword and sorcery, online, and full immersion. However, on the other hand, it's not full of adventure, unique experiences, rules, exploration, etc. It's a story about a guy that can not deal with life and needs a distraction. Kind of boring. Sorry, scratch that, it was really boring.

I listen to books to get away from regular life, and long commutes, and enjoy being immersed in a new world. This book lets you experience the life of a guy that doesn't have enough internal strength to get over the death of a loved one and/or a cranky old guy that gets exhausted walking a hundred yards. I feel really bad for anyone's RL that is so bad that either of those two options is an upgrade.

On the plus side, the narrator did a great performance. I ended up listening to half the book at a higher speed to get through and the narrators performance was still good.

I cried and I laughed...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book carefully to others. If they have lost someone close to them and have had a hard time dealing with it, then this may not be the best of choices. There are some small parts that deal with great depression and a glancing blow at suicide, which I found tearful, having had to deal with that with friends and family. However the overall story line buoys an underlining emotion of hope and the struggles of the main character, who valiantly pushes onward, makes every triumph yours also. I greatly enjoyed this and wholeheartedly wish that Audible had more than just the first of the five books available.

Refreshingly Thoughtful

Unlike others in this genre, this book delves into character and ideas, but manages to keep the pace engaging. Bit of a cliffhanger, but welcome bait to listen to the next one.

A Compliment sandwich, litearlly.

So, ultimately i liked this book. but ironically the best way it can be described is literally as a compliment sandwich.

The first part starts off really good. very well done world building, just enough to draw me in without giving away everything and letting me have an idea about the characters. The middle, to be blunt was god awful. Not bad QUALITY mind you, it just dragged on for SO GOD DAMN LONG doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. you could cut out about 1/4 of the book in the middle and absolutely nothing would change or be different about the plot. it was basically a total waste of time and almost had me to the point of giving up and returning the book. After it got past that god awful hump though the book finds its pace again and i was genuinely surprised how much i got drawn in to what essentially amounted to a slice of life Litrpg.

Overall it was pretty good, but you're gonna have to put in a bit of effort and grit your teeth to get through the middle.
