Resumen del Editor

Can two lovers from different centuries find a way to live together? Do they choose the past or the future, or is there a place in between?

Hilly Creighton never expected to find a man when she peered into a cave near Tombstone, Arizona. Clint Woodrow had no idea how he was pulled forward in time from 1881, and he has been trying to get back home ever since. He doesn’t realize that the cave is the answer - the cave and Hilly.

As the fates throw Hilly and Clint back to Tombstone’s wild and untamed early days, Hilly fights to survive, and Clint struggles to protect her against the harshness of life in the desert.

Light and Fun Time-Travelling Adventure

Hilly Creighton was very surprised to find an intense and handsome man, Clint Woodrow when she peered into a cave near Tombstone, Arizona and called out 'Come Out, Come Out Wherever you are". Clint Woodrow is an actor employed to play one of the gunslingers in the Tomstone re-enactments for tourists and author Hilly take the opportunity to ask Clint to assist her with some of the area history as background for her next novel. The adventure of a lifetime begins for both of our leads from this point.

Caving into you is full of my favourite book element - twisty surprises - a plethora of them - So I recommend reading as little as possible about the story in advance (perhaps writing this in a review soundly defeats this recommendation LOL). Michelle Babb's excellent narration carried me through a few bumps in the story cohesion and made them hardly noticeable but I would love to see this book receive some quality edits in this domain such as a more stable and logical relationship evolution.

This truly was an excellent read with delightful sub characters such as Marie to add spice. I hope we get to read Marie's story in a subsequent book as she is colourful and fiesty so I am sure it will be a worthy adventure. Marie was just one of several side characters that I engaged with and enjoyed. Love in the Old West, Book 1 got us started in a totally unique and fresh way in the familiar world of the Wild West but in a fresh, unexpected and creative direction. I look forward to the subsequent books in this series.

Time travel romance that holds up

Hilly Creighton is a romance writer, on her way to visit her brother in Phoenix after attending a writer's convention. She stops near Tombstone to enjoy the stark landscape, and finds a cave. She calls into it, just being silly for a minute, and then goes on her way.

Clint Woodrow is a miner in 1881 Tombstone, until he hears a woman's voice calling to him from the entrance to his mine, and emerges to find no woman in sight, but but a very different world than the Tombstone he knew.

Six months later, Hilly is back in Arizona, for a real visit to Tombstone for research for her next book, when she meets an actor playing one of the gunfighters in the reenactment of the shootout at the OK Corral--a man named Clint Woodrow.

Hilly initially just wants to interview Clint about Tombstone, the gunfight, and what he knows about the history of Tombstone. Clint, of course, knows entirely too much, and maintains the fiction that he's new to the are and doesn't know that much.

He's attracted enough to her, though, that he agrees to give her a tour of some of the historic sites, and tries to keep from saying more than he should. When she decides to show him the cave she found six months ago, though, it is of course his old mine.

Clint likes the 21st century; it's a lot more comfortable than the late 19th. But the only work he can get is low-paid, enough to support himself but not enough to ever allow him to marry and support a family. He wants to get back to the 19th century and his silver mine, so that he can strike it rich and have something to offer a woman.

And when he and Hilly get too close to the shaft edge, they fall through, into the 19th century.

Hilly is smart, capable, resourceful, and not at all dressed for the 19th century. She has none of the skills a smart, capable, resourceful woman of the late 19th century. And their mutual attraction aside, Clint feels responsible for her safety and well-being in 1881 Tombstone.

Which is awkward, given that he has to get her new clothes for her to even look respectable, 21st century tight-fitting jeans being questionable attire even for him, much less for a lovely young woman. But Clint does have friends, and is pretty resourceful himself--he made a living for himself in the 21st century for six months, after all.

Their different cultural assumptions and sensitivities clash and interact believably as their courtship, his mining, and their torn feelings about whether or not they want to stay where they are or go back to the 21st century--if they even can. They may, after all, be trapped, since they don't know either how Clint traveled forward in the first, or how they traveled back.

I found this enjoyable and satisfying. Recommended.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the narrator, and am reviewing it voluntarily.

Tombstone now and then

Caving into You
Love in the Old West, Book 1
: Bess McBride

This is a sweet clean western historical, time travel fiction and romance. Bess McBride takes the listener along with Hilly Creighton to Tombstone, Arizona and Clint Woodrow. They share adventures as well as not so happy events. The listener ill be held captive until the end.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Michelle Babb brings the story to life.

Not a Romance fan, still an amazing book

Let me preface this by saying I got a review copy and that Romance and Old West is not my preferred reading material

So lets say a brief description, its a romance that started a little slow for myself but quickly picks itself from a "Tombstone" (quite little joke) and starts striding, if you like relatable characters and not to overly romance you will love it

Pros-
Amazing performance by Michelle Babb
Really compelling characters that make it more worthwhile on a reread
Interesting premise
A quite well made time travel

Cons-
Starts a little slow but quickly paces itself up

Overall will give it a 9/10 even if I am no a fan of the genre because it was really well made. If you Like the genre do pick it up, if you dont then still pick it up and give it a try, its a really nice story about a redhead and not cowboy (another little easter egg)

A Fun Read

I love to read. I mostly read mysteries, specifically cozy mysteries, however, I do occasionally read romance. Having said that this is not a typical romance. Time traveling between modern times and the time of the old west gives this romance a unique spin. Hilly and Clint were enjoyable characters. Their chemistry was great. You couldn’t help but hope things work out for them. The story is well-written and entertaining.

I listened to the audio version of this book. I have enjoyed listening to the narrator Michelle Babb before. She is a wonderful storyteller, she has the ability to bring a book to life. She has a talent for giving each character a distinctive voice and allows their personalities to shine.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way, I have been influenced by anyone.

Time Travel & Romance

I happened to listen to book two A Home in Your Heart before this one and it was excellent. They are stand alone books and don't need to be heard in order.

Bess McBride's books are my first intro into time travel stories. Between her great writing and characters and Michelle Babb's excellent narration, they've got me hooked and I am looking forward to losing myself in more time travels books.

Michelle Babb does a great job of bringing the characters to life and making you feel as if you are right there in the story with them.

You can't go wrong with these books. I look forward to listening to more in the series.

I have listened to a lot of audiobooks, (over 500 in 2020 as they help me not focus on my constant back pain & help keep my PTSD anxiety attacks at bay), so a good narrator is an absolute must!

This is a book I would listen to again.

I was provided this audiobook at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review & I look forward to listening to more books by both the narrator & the author.

Loved this time travel book.

The story was an interesting twist on time travel. I enjoyed it a lot. The characters were believable. I was listening to this while my husband was around and he decided to restart the book today. He thought it was a good story and wanted to hear the whole story.

The narration was great too. I would listen to this narrator again.

Time traveling to Tombstone

This was a very enjoyable light easy read. A very sweet romantic story about time crossed lovers in Tombstone Arizona. The story involves a writer and a miner switching places between the 21st century and 1881 in Tombstone Arizona.

The writer or Hilly irritated me at times on how wimpy she was.

There are some light references to the big gun battle but I wished it had been highlighted a bit more.

I listened to the audio version of this. The reader or narrator did an excellent job. Over all it was a sweet story and had a nice ending.
