This was such a cute story and other than a couple of curse words, could playing in the car with my children with me.

Zack, the main character, reminds me of my grandpa.....just kind of behind the times (doesn't know how to use a cell phone and all of the uses it can provide), and just kind of simple, who is a recent widower and adopts a Coorgi, Sherlock. Sherlock is a great detective and is pointing Zack in the direction of finding clues to solve the puzzle of who is trying to frame him for murder.

The narrator did a great job, but did speak kind of fast on several parts.

I received this book for free from the author through Audiobook BOOM, but that had no influence on the content of my review.

Love Sherlock

The dog is fun and Zack, the main character, is very funny. Overall, it's entertaining.

The big wrap up with the killer was ridiculous, but that's my only complaint. I'll listen to the next one for the smiles and hope for a better finale.

pretty good

First off Jeffery Pole is a new author to me. This book is the first in this fun series. I so enjoyed the wit and humor of the lead character Zack Anderson. Then there is his corgi what for it... Sherlock yep the dogs name is Sherlock. I found this cozy mystery so fun I can't wait to read the next in the series. Bob Johnson does a great job of narrating this book too. Just a no nonsense kind of voice that helps to deliver the wit and humor well. If you are looking to be entertained by a book look no farther this is it. I was gifted this audio book with the understanding I would leave an honest review.

Honestly I have always had a hard time finishing books, but the Corgi Case Files have kept me interested, invested in the characters and wanting more. I own 2 Corgi's of my own, Sherlock and Watson are the written copies of both.

Such a fabulous book.

We have here a sad-sack widower who tragically lost the love of his life six months ago and takes advantage of an inheritance to start over. Suddenly he finds himself a dog owner and up to his neck in trouble--and he hasn't even been in town for 24 hours!

Perfectly narrated by Bob Johnson, you could be actually listening to the voice of our hero as he shares his story. Murder, mystery, humor, romance . . . and dogs! What more could you want?

The corgi character was great; and I like the gal who owns the cookbook/cookware shop. Some parts of the book were enough to draw you on for a while. But the big reveal felt rushed, like the author ran up against the publisher's deadline and had to get something on paper.

My biggest issues with the book were with some of the main character's comments. He is a bit judge-y. He seems to get hung up on one of the characters and is uncomfortable, partly because he can't determine their gender right away. And there were a few minor things that could be seen as a tiny bit sexist.

it was okay

Widowed suddenly and at loose ends, our hero decided to leave Phoenix to start over dinner where else. He arrives in a town, PV (Palm Valley) to find himself becoming an adoptive daddy to a corgi, a murder/robbery case where he's the prime suspect and the owner of a winery.
what's a man to do when the s*** hits the fan?
Bob Johnson is remarkable as your poor beleaguered hero!!

I so enjoyed this fun listen by J.M. Poole. The story is an original standalone listen. I liked how the author wove wit and humor into this cozy listen and reversed some roles. The imagery in the story was awesome. I found some characters endearing, while others were not. Bob Johnson did a great performance with the various characters. I requested this review copy audiobook. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Great Story!

In The Case of the One-Eyed Tiger by Jeffrey Poole, newly widowed Zack Anderson has moved to a small town in Oregon where the aunt of Zack's late wife just left him property, including a winery significant to the community. But the moment he arrives, he becomes the chief suspect in the murder of a famous artist and the theft of a priceless sculpture of a tiger. The phone records from his new house's landline show suspicious calls before Zack even arrived in town, and Zack's fingerprints appear on ther artist's notebook. He discovers that Harry, a high school classmate, now lives in the town and is the local vet who also runs the local animal shelter. Thus Zack gets himself adopted by a special corgi named Sherlock, who helps him in his case. But Sherlock first leads him to another body in the winery. Now Zack has to figure out what is going on before he gets arrested for the murders.

I had an exciting time listening to The Case of the One-Eyed Tiger. I loved the creative plot, with many potential murderers. After assisting both my parents today with their smartphones, I got a kick out of how much Zack's ineptitude with his own smartphone plays a role throughout the book. He keeps complaining that the phone doesn't just make calls anymore! And the conclusion was highly satisfying with Sherlock playing a creative role that I didn't expect in helping with the denouement.

But even better than the fun plot were the special characters who came to life dramatically. I loved the way that Sherlock adopts Zack, making Zack take him home and assisting in the investigation. I don't like books with animals who have special powers, but Sherlock keeps just on the normal side of his life, but is still a very special dog. The relationship that develops between Sherlock and Zack, who has had no experience with dogs before is delightful to observe. I also appreciated seeing Zack's friendship with Jillian, owner of a local store and widow for two years. I like that while there is attraction between the two, they take things slowly and start as friends.

I do want to point out that this book fits as a cozy mystery in all ways but one. It features an amateur detective in a rural area with a dog with no graphic violence or sex. However, it does contain some bad language that really seemed unnecessary, especially if Poole wants to target the cozy mystery market.

Bob Johnson performs the audio edition of The Case of the One-Eyed Tiger, which I really enjoyed. I appreciated the expression he uses without being overly emotive. I thought that he especially did a strong job of performing the content of this book.

I had a great time listening to The Case of the One-Eyed Tiger. I was so fortunate to be offered this book for free to review because I probably would never have discovered it otherwise. I loved the plot, but especially the characters and their interactions. I give this book five stars!

A dog named Sherlock

Zach Anderson inherits his late wife's aunt's vineyard in Oregan. Within a few hours of moving, he finds himself the new owner of a rescue dog - a Corgi named Sherlock. (Adorable!) Unfortunately, he also is the target of a bitter Abigail who wants the vineyard, gets drawn into a murder investigation, and is searching for a lost sculpture. I like how Zach "breaks the fourth wall" and addresses the readers directly. The cast of characters is colorful and the setting (small town, vineyards) adds a lot of texture to the story. I'm looking forward to the next story!
