A disturbing package leads Detective Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott to investigate four dangerous murder suspects in this "magnetic" British mystery (Michiko Kakutani, New York Times) that inspired the acclaimed HBO Max series C.B. Strike.
When Robin Ellacott opens an unexpected delivery, she is horrified to discover that it contains a woman's severed leg. Her boss, private detective Cormoran Strike, is less surprised but just as alarmed. He suspects that four people from his past could be responsible - and any one of them is capable of sustained and unspeakable brutality. With the police focusing on the one suspect Strike has essentially ruled out, he and Robin take matters into their own hands and delve into the dark and twisted worlds of the other three men. But as more horrendous acts occur, time is running out for the two of them...
Career of Evil is the third in J. K. Rowling's highly acclaimed series featuring private detective Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott. A fiendishly clever mystery with unexpected twists around every corner, Career of Evil is also a gripping story of a man and a woman at a crossroads in their personal and professional lives.

Reseñas de la Crítica
"Robert Glenister is the man in this fine performance of Robert Galbraith's (aka J.K. Rowling) most recent detective thriller. Having narrated the first two books in the series, Glenister knows the main characters...." (AudioFile)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Any additional comments?
First, I truly enjoyed the first two books in this series, and they were made all the better by the narrator who does an excellent job. Along with me, my daughter (age 22) and my girlfriend have been listening to these books. We all agree that J.K. Rowling is an excellent writer. Since my daughter grew up on the Potter books, I wondered if she would find the much more adult writing a turn-off, but she loves it too.
Corcoran Strike is one of those interesting characters in a book where you wonder why the author put certain limitations on. Much like in the television series House, Strike has a gimpy leg (partial amputation) that limits his physical ability and is a constant background to the storyline. But just as in House, it makes him more human. This isn't a detective like Harry Bosch or hero like Jack Reacher. Instead he is much more human, more real, while still having the specialness that we expect in a hero.
I thought this book was an excellent extension of the previous two with the main characters moving forward in their lives in a real-to-life manner. They are not standing still doing more heroic feats. We really don't know what to expect next. At points in the book I found myself upset that the author would take the character down a certain path, but later I realized that the chosen path was what was necessary for the character to develop.
It's an excellent book. I'd recommend it, but read the other two first.
The Third Book Develops the Characters

This is a worthy followup to the 2 previous Strike novels. It is gory, and suspenseful. But what i loved most were the backstories on Cormoran and Robin. as well as the further development of the 2 characters and their relationship. Also wondering how Shanker will figure into future books. Also fantastic narration. I feel i know these characters.
Hurry up with the next book!
