I never intended to become a princess. Or make a deal with a monster.
Lost in the wilderness, I thought the handsome stranger was my salvation—until I looked into the eyes of a beast. They say not to bargain with the fae, but there was no other choice.
The deadly prince of Stag Court claims I belong to him. I only have a year and a day to convince him to let me go before I'm his forever. He's without mercy, known as a ruthless killer. Yet he protects me. Defends me. Tells me his secrets. In front of the Court, he's the Beast, but behind closed doors he gives me the chance to choose him, or not.
The fae Court is a dangerous place, and the prince isn't the only terror lurking in the shadows. But I'm stronger than his enemies give me credit for. Together, he and I might be each other's salvation . . . or ruin.
Captured by the Fae Beast is a complete story loosely inspired by the story of Hades and Persephone, with a guaranteed happily-ever-after. This enemies-to-lovers slow burn romance features a possessive male lead and the sunshine mortal who can tame him.
Contains mature themes.

The whole take on soul mates in the series is really cool! I love the thought that soulmates don’t just have to be romantic pairings and the innate knowledge of your mate’s true form. There's a bit of humor brought in and the banter is *chefs kiss*
Raquel Beattie did a FABULOUS job with the narration! She conveys the character’s emotions and personalities so well, and her voices for different characters utilize changes in cadence and accents as well as pitch- which means when she switches into male characters it’s not a jarring, too-deep grumble that takes you out of the story. I’m thrilled to see she continued with the other releases for the series.
I know the fourth book gets most of the attention, but I HIGHLY recommend the entire series! The first book is a bit of a slow burn, but there’s plenty of tension and attraction between our main characters along the way. Mallory writes stories that illustrate the relationships my inner romantic craves within truly fascinating and engaging plot, which continues to build upon itself and connect as the series progresses. 5 stars, will be reading and listening again!

The female protagonist is just insufferable. Her inner monologues and rationalizations are endless and repetitive. And she’s oh so “perfect”, she has this holier-than-thou attitude towards everyone and everything, she’s always right, does everything right, everyone likes her and moves on from her initial trauma in like 5 minutes. She’s supposed to be witty and funny but actually comes across as juvenile and bratty. The way she treats the mmc is sometimes downright cruel, with her indecision and her “let’s just be friends” until she’s horny. But the worst is how she blows way out of proportion something the mmc does (which seemed somewhat reasonable) and she decides the appropriate consequence is for him to humiliate himself and submit to months of torture and she loves him more for that… what??
The mmc is a little better, but not much. He’s too emo and self loathing for my liking.
The villain is underdeveloped and underwhelming, same goes to all side characters.
And last but not least, the worst for me is how pro military and war apologist the book is. Our heroine rationalizes how “necessary” some atrocities are in times of war, like ecological destruction (but hey, the forest will regrow in 100 years, it’s ok) or how leaders should act like dictators during war because they know what’s best and things must get done fast and who has time to listen to others opinions on wether their decisions are right… yikes!
*spoilers ahead*
The freaking epilogue was so infuriating. Are you telling me that the whole dilema our fmc spends an entire year fretting over could’ve been solved so easily and nobody thought of it sooner? pfff
Hated It
