***THIS 8-BOOK SERIES IS NOW COMPLETE***

Lafayette Hendricks is a demon hunter with a black coat, a longsword, and zero patience for bulls***. He hits the small town of Midian, Tennessee on a rainy night, just looking for the next monster to kill. What he finds instead is a full-blown hotspot: demons walking around in human skin, a ritual kicking off in a cow pasture, and one very confused deputy named Arch Stan who’s about to learn that some things don’t stay dead when you empty a magazine into them.

Together this cowboy from hell and a small-town cop who still says grace before dinner have to stop an ancient evil from cracking the world open. It’s bloody, foul-mouthed, fast as hell, and readers who tore through the whole eight-book series in a week call it “Dresden Files turned up to eleven with the safety off.” If you like your urban fantasy raw, southern-fried, tinged with horror, and soaked in demon blood, start here—you won’t sleep till you finish the series.

Warning: Contains violence, coarse language, and steamy situations. Also, you may lose several days due to being unable to put these books down.

The first chapter of this book is an introduction to 3 different characters. While I enjoyed the book itself, computer narration just ran all the paragraphs together so you couldn't tell you had switched to a different character. It just made things very confusing. There was also no fluctuation in accent when the book specified heavy accents, and the colorful colloquialisms used didn't sound right with the flat narration. The narration lacked the emotional fluctuation that draws a person into the story.

computer natation fail

This story is really scary in the beginning. But it was very interesting and held my attention. I honestly credit virtual voice for that. The reading was so smooth & soothing to my ears that, although it was creepy or scary, it also relaxed me mentally.

Virtual Voice Naration was Excellent

Good read

Storyline seems like when I can get into. However, this virtual voice they’re using for this story is really monotone and has no emotion. Something that the human narrators bring to the table. Something that they make worth listening to. I might consider listening to this again if a real human actually read this. Only made it through chapter 2 before I turned it off.

The story is good but…

Just like all his other titles, Crane tells an amazing story that draws you in and holds you tight through the entire story.

Greatest author there is.
