Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok. They've all got your teen hooked. But what do you do when it's having a knock-on effect on their self-esteem?

Anxiety is on the rise, and teenagers are not immune. In fact, the prevalence of social media makes social anxiety in adolescents more likely than ever.

Does your teen compare themselves to the influencers and pop stars they see on Instagram? Our teenagers are fighting an uphill battle when it comes to self-image. They’re surrounded by airbrushed photos and the pressure to live up to an impossible ideal–even more so than we were when we were younger.

Your teen can arm themselves against the pressure to look or act a certain way. They simply need to know what they’re addressing, why they need to tackle it, and exactly how to go about it.

Whether your child has become quiet and withdrawn, or you’ve noticed them developing an unhealthy relationship with the images they see on social media, there’s a solution.

Teenagers are under extraordinary pressure these days, but they can rise above their anxiety and embrace themselves for who they are. They simply need the right tools to point them in the direction of success. Free your teen from social pressure and watch them blossom as they learn to love themselves exactly as they are.

I remember being 13 years old and feeling like the ugliest, stupidest-looking kid I knew.
Now transporting myself out of the 1960s into the present, I literally have no idea how young adults are coping with the false body images thrust upon them from every digital angle! Is it any wonder the suicide rates and the teens at risk metrics are skyrocketing?
Camille Robinett’s book is, in my opinion, a MUST-READ for all young adults. The appalling story of Sarah Barton is shared from the early part of the 1800s where racial stereotyping and cultural mockery of “otherness” reached a horrifying peak. Even legends like Janis Joplin faced humiliating bullying and mocking for “being different.”
Nowadays, it’s in your face with the digital manipulation of images in PhotoShop, presenting celebrities in glorified phoniness guaranteed to make any insecure teen, which is likely, ALL of them, feel horrible about themselves.
The mind/body connection is explained and explored, as well as practical ways to improve your self image from both the inside and the outside. Digging down into the root causes of a poor body images is truly helpful, including a fascinating experiment by Dove with a forensic artist drawing women from their perspective and from someone else’s: you’ll want to listen to this, I don’t want to spoil it for you.
I love the quote in Chapter 5, “To be beautiful is to be yourself.” Ms. Robinett’s workbook/audiobook teaches a teen precisely HOW to be who they are, and how to be comfortable with it.
If you have teen children or grandchildren, this wonderful book may make the crucial difference in their lives when they need it the most. Highly recommended
