Engaging listen

Would you listen to Beyond Reach again? Why?

Karin Slaughter's books are fantastic and always a great read/listen. I didn't love the reading of the male characters' voices compared to past readers.

All 3 main characters are great.

Which character – as performed by Joyce Bean – was your favorite?

I didn't love her performance overall, but Sarah was the best.

Wouldn't listen to performance by Joyce Bean again of Karin S's books.

Saddened

I avoided this book, having read the Will Trent series already, but it is good to have a full understanding of the characters. A trip back to Lena's messed up hometown fills in Lena's backstory and leads to a tragic ending. Sadder than most books, but as always with Karin Slaughter, the story was well developed, well performed and worth the time.

Great book

Changing narrators again, this one was even worse than the last. Made Jeffery sound like he was 100 years old. Rude!

Hard to understand horrible job on narrators end

I love Karin Slaughter and all her books but I can't tell if it's just Amazon's audible copy of the book or if it's the narrator that sounds muffled. It sounds like she recorded this book in a fishbowl

Worst narration ever

The jumping of the timeline didn't throw me off as it seems it did for others.

Story was excellent- it was interesting and unpredictable. Lots of twists and turns. Though I didn't like the direction she went.

My biggest issue with this book was the performance. The narration was horrible. The main Sarah's narration and most female characters were okay. But Jeffrey and Lena were AWFUL. I wanted to cry every time she read Jeffrey's lines.

Given the narration and direction, I wish I had skipped this book.

Worse Narrator Ever

I can't believe they let this person narrate this book. it pretty much ruined it. Jeffrey's voice is the most annoying of all. I will not purchase another one.

Great!

Great twists and heart stopping. Book was so good, it was difficult to pause listening for any reason. I just didn't want to put it down.

Not the best of the series but still enjoyable...

No. I did not enjoy the narration of Joyce Bean. Her male voices are atrocious, her accents are all over the place, and her narration is, overall, too affected. Very distracting.

If you’ve listened to books by Karin Slaughter before, how does this one compare?

I've listened to MANY of Karin Slaughter's books. While this one is not the best, it is still very enjoyable...if you can get past the poor narration work.

Overall, a good book and worth a read.

The accents and voices drove me nuts

I love Karen Slaughters books but something about the audio preformer on this one was off: Jeffery sounded like an 80 year old man, Sara had a lisp and she did this weird filter on her voice when someone was talking in a phone. I've lived in Georgia my whole life, traveled to every corner and I've never heard these accents... it would have been easier to listen to without the accents. Wait till you hear her say "Kudzu"!
