Resumen del Editor

Read by the author.

Between the Mountain and the Sky shows us the goodness that is possible when a single person - regardless of age - takes action to help another and, in the process, changes the lives of hundreds.

Maggie’s story begins in suburban New Jersey, in a comfortable middle-class family that supports her decision to travel the world during a gap year before starting college. During her travels, the trajectory of her life alters when she has a surprise encounter with a Nepali girl breaking rocks in a quarry. Maggie decides to invest her life savings of 5,000 dollars to buy a piece of land and open a children’s home in Nepal.

That home becomes Kopila Valley Children’s Home, and eventually, the nonprofit Maggie launches, the BlinkNow Foundation, also starts the Kopila Valley School, which provides tuition-free education for more than 400 students. Maggie and BlinkNow’s work have been recognized around the world for their innovative, sustainable work.

However, this book isn’t a how-to for fledging philanthropists or nonprofit founders - it’s a coming-of-age story about a young woman suspended between two worlds, as well as the love, loss, healing, and hope she experiences along the way. And Maggie’s inspiring, intimate tale shows an important truth: the power to change the world exists within all of us.

Inspiring story, very articulately written!

Very much enjoyed this story about a young girl following her passion and changing the world for the better. It was an amazing story that continues to play out in real life and I love that the reader can follow the school and learn more about the Blink Now foundation. So glad I found this book, it was inspiring!

A must read!

Maggie takes us on a journey that comes from love. She is an example of the human spirit and it’s resiliency built on sharing the love that’s she has for others. I wish the world had more Maggie Doynes- everyone would feel they were enough.

the most sincere memoir

WOW...this book was amazing! I listen to books while I travel on public transit. I don't often cry or laugh out loud but Maggie left me no choice. I had many stares of concern throughout the week. This book is a prime example of Maggie's dedication. She goes above and beyond for her audience to make you feel every feeling and to understand all the nuisances. Thank you for sharing a part of you with the world.

So deeply heartfelt and inspiring!

I’ve never read a book that felt so deeply emotional before. I felt so humbled, in awe and inspired by Maggie and her words. This book restored my faith in humanity, and at the same time gave me a swift kick in the butt to get moving with my own ideas of building community.
Thank you so sharing your words and heart with us Maggie! You are a gift to this world, your children and community.

Remarkable story

As someone who is living a modest but successful life in the US after going to a missionary school in Nepal, I could relate to the stories of the children of KVS. Unlike Maggie, the school I went to had the backing of a rich Catholic foundation. Maggie in her humble ways calls herself a guest of Nepal, but by now, she’s earned the rights to call herself the star daughter of Nepal. It was hard to pause this book from the moment I pressed the play button for the first time

A touching story beautifully written

I have followed Maggie‘s story for at least a decade and always was in awe of her from a distance. What a powerful retelling of her personal story, growth, family, tragedies, and triumphs. I enjoyed every word.

Truly Powerful

I’ve never felt so touched by a book like I am by Maggie’s story. The way she described her story, vulnerable loss, falling in love with Nepal, her experiences you feel as though you are right there with her. You will be forever changed after you read, and listen to her story, I know I am. We can all make an impact, and learn from the people in Nepal because of her. Thank you for inspiring so many people 💗

A Journey That Will Capture Your Heart
When it comes to non-fiction audiobooks that leave a lasting impact, Between The Mountain and the Sky by Maggie Doyne is always at the top of my list. Maggie's storytelling prowess shines through as she shares her incredible journey as a young traveler who found herself becoming a mother to orphaned Nepalese children. Her courage, vulnerability, and humility instantly draw you in, forging a deep connection between listener and storyteller.

One of the most inspiring aspects of Maggie's narrative is her wisdom on navigating loss, a theme that resonates profoundly with those who have experienced deep grief. Her words not only touch your soul but also infuse you with hope, reminding us that love transcends even the darkest moments. The audiobook is filled with unforgettable passages, including a poignant excerpt from The Walking Book Club®'s audiobook extras that beautifully encapsulates the essence of grief and love.
What sets Between The Mountain and the Sky apart is Maggie's exceptional narration. Listening to Maggie share her journey is extraordi

Choosing to take your life's savings and skip going to college to build a home for orphans in Nepal takes a lot of things but more than anything it takes a huge heart. You can imagine it is not easy but to hear Maggie tell her story and share her journey, adopting 50+ kids, building not just a home, but a school, a large team and a non-,profit to raise money to fund it while fiercely loving and protecting them all, to the best of her ability and experiencing unendurable pain and loss along the way, while also staying humble and not just respecting but really partnering with the local community, is nothing short of extraordinary.
