Not typical Shen but still good

This for sure is NOT typical Shen- no Alphas, no smut. It is something totally different. I read some reviews that hated the main character and felt she was self loathing and weak but I just felt like she was one that struggled with loss and guilt. It just took her awhile to get there, to find her strength. It was a story of kismet, love, loss, renewal and strength. Overall I liked it but I will agree that the narration is VERY difficult. The voice was too old for Ever and I just couldn’t get past it. The whole time I wished it was a different narrator.

It’s meh- not L.J. Shens best.

I love L.J. Shen, and usually her books are the right amount of angst for me without going overboard. This one missed the mark for me. While it was still a touching story overall, the FMC was too angst and self loathing, which brought the whole story way down. I found myself constantly wishing she would just get over herself and buy a clue. The ending helped makeup for it some, but not quite enough to rate this as anything but average.

Good story

It might have been a little long but I listened to it all- great characters and good storytelling.

Predictable, but good.

I honestly saw the plot twist coming, but I still really enjoyed this book. The story was well written. I wish it would have stretched out a little longer, but overall I would recommend this book. The narrator did a great job.

Just what I needed!

So relatable as far as the second guessing a relationship. Not exactly where I thought it would go, but Shen never writes the predictable-Loved it!!!

Hated the protagonist

Too whiney
Made me yell at her in anger.
Almost stopped several times , but gritted my teeth through it.
It’s a shame- Could have been good, but Ever is a horrible indecisive dumb
Character that made it extremely hard to listen to.

Not the Usual for L.J

i didnt like it and skipped over a lot to the end. It felt drawn out. This is the first time i have not liked one of her books.

Great story

I LOVED the story! It had drama, ups, downs, surprises, and I was fully entertained. The performance was…lackluster but it wasn’t completely bad. As a matter of fact, I feel like the narrator’s cadence matched the tone of the main character. For my first audiobook, I’m extremely pleased and excited for my next choice.
