Resumen del Editor

What if, in our endless drive to tame new lands, we provoked a response from nature itself?

What if nature designed a creature to take on the most dangerous species on the planet?

What if that design was meant to replace us at the top of the food chain?

Could we stop it, or would nature forcibly take its planet back?

A quick enjoyable horror/thriller

A very quick, fun read (or listen), this is a horror/thriller short story about an invasion of giant insects; natures response to the human ‘pest’. The story is from the point of view of a pest control guy as he encounters the beasts and then has to protect his family and his community. There is a skill to really good short stories and I don’t know that Peterson has got it sorted exactly right, but he is on his way. I think in an attempted give us insight into the main character he spend a lot of time building backstory and character information (ex-girlfriend and mother of his children was from a rich family, left because he wasn’t ready for marriage, etc.) that wasn’t needed for the story. I guess it was to make him more relatable or less one dimensional “pest control guy”, but just the girlfriend and daughters would have done this without the additional ex-girlfriend backstory. The author needs to ask the question of “is this information useful to the story? Why include it?” especially when you are doing a short story and have limited time/space.
Without saying too much about it, and giving anything away, I will say I enjoyed the ending.

The narration is good. Not outstanding, but solid. It is clear and competent and carries the story well. At times there could have been more inflection or urgency in it, to reflect the action in the story, but overall I think it was good.

wow this will make you think for sure.

I really enjoyed this book, it was quick and to the point. I love books that make you think and wonder when it is a totally plausible chain of events. I would recommend this book to any one that likes to read about the different ways we are destroying our world.. It was awesome.
