In this charming sequel to Anne of Green Gables, the unpredictable red-headed heroine returns for more wonderful adventures. When Anne Shirley first came to the beautiful Canadian town of Avonlea, she was a mischievous, talkative orphan who captured the hearts of everyone she met. Now, a few years later, Anne is a young woman with new dreams. She has become Avonlea's schoolteacher, and ends up, among other things, reuniting two long-lost lovers, raising two orphans, and falling in love for the first time.Hear more stories in the Anne of Green Gables series.Public Domain (P)2011 Recorded Books Clásicos Literatura y Ficción Sincero Para sentirse bien

Reseñas editoriales

Beginning with Anne of Green Gables in 1908, author Lucy Maud Montgomery created a publishing enterprise as ambitious and successful as its heroine, the flame-haired and hot-tempered orphan, Anne Shirley. Performed in a mature, impeccable American English by Barbara Caruso, Anne of Avonlea is the second of six Anne novels. The present volume finds Anne at age 16, teaching school, studying with Gilbert, forming a social club, and getting into her usual trouble.

Along with the unforgettable heroine and great quirky side characters, the listener is treated to the small, peaceful Prince Edward Island in Northeastern Canada, beginning on "...an August afternoon with blue hazes scarfing the harvest slopes, little winds whispering elfishly in the poplars"...

Reseñas de la Crítica

If you're listening to this one you're probably already a fan of Miss Montgomery---flights of fancy, humor, good people, good times.

Anne girl

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but you can also listen to it in small chunks successfully, which I find very important with audiobooks.

Classic with great narration

Continuation of Anne’s story, showing her growth from the imaginative girl of Anne of Green Gables into a young woman navigating adulthood. The characters really make this book shine—Marilla’s softened edges, Paul Irving’s poetic soul, and of course, mischievous little Davy with his endless questions and hilarious antics. His blunt honesty and curiosity keep the story lighthearted, even as Anne faces more responsibilities.

Just wonderful to follow Ann as she grows up. This is one of my favorite series of books from my childhood. It is just wonderful to get to listen to them. The recording is not new but it is still a great listen.
