Resumen del Editor

When an inexplicable wave of energy slammed into North America, millions died. In the rest of the world, wars erupted, borders vanished, and the powerful lost their grip on power. Against this backdrop, with a conflicted US president struggling to make momentous decisions in Seattle and a madman fomenting rebellion in Texas, three women are fighting their own battles - for survival, justice, and revenge.

Special Agent Caitlin Monroe moves stealthily through a South American jungle - her target: a former French official now held prisoner by a ruthless despot. To free the prisoner, Caitlin will kill anyone who gets in her way. Then she will get the truth about how a master terrorist escaped a secret detention center in French Guadeloupe to strike a fatal blow in New York City.

Sofia Pieraro is a teenage girl who witnessed firsthand the murder and mayhem of Texas under the rule of General Mad Jack Blackstone. Sofia might have tried to build a life with her father in the struggling remnants of Kansas City - if a vicious murder hadn’t set her on another course altogether: back to Texas, even to Blackstone himself.

Julianne Balwyn is a British-born aristocrat turned smuggler. Shopping in the most fashionable neighborhood of Darwin, Australia - now a fantastic neo-urban frontier - Jules has a pistol holstered in the small of her lovely back. She is playing the most dangerous game of all: waiting for the person who is hunting her to show his face - so she can kill him first.

Three women in three corners of a world plunged into electrifying chaos; nation-states struggling for their survival; immigrants struggling for new lives - John Birmingham’s astounding conclusion to the series begun in Without Warning and After America is an intense adventure that races from the halls of power to shattered streets to gleaming new cities as humanity struggles to grasp its better angels - and purge its worst demons.

John Birmingham is the author of the Axis of Time trilogy and several other novels and nonfiction titles. He and his family live in Brisbane, Australia.

Nice Trilogy

Book 3 of 3 tied up all the Clancy-like plot lines nicely. I thought that the book concluded a post apocalyptic scenario so that all the characters continued with their lives in a way that was as believable as any sci-fi book can be. The exaggerated politics of a national capital in (liberal Seattle contrasting with a batch of rednecks in Texas was well played. After book one, Without Warning, I began to wonder how the world would evolve back to a normal state. While it required a couple of books, the author eventually got there. I'll read more of Birmingham.

A good ending to a series.

It wasn't as exciting as the first 2 and the drama wasn't as strong but over all it was a good ending to the series. Seemed like they left a little wiggle room for another but don't see it happening unless they really pick it up some.
John Birmingham is a great author and Tom Weiner does a great job of reading the text.
Looking forward to other books by Mr. Birmingham and hope to find many more books read by Mr. Weiner.

another great set

John needs to get off his can and write some more---I have really enjoyed both of his series of books. Like to see him write another vol. to his first set and there are enough lose ends in is one that he could do something with as well

Excellent series !

I recommend this series for those of us who enjoy detailed experiences and real world endings . All too often in order for a country to remain stabilized a blatant criminal has to be given a state funeral with all the trimmings and the extremely dark criminal acts buried with them .

Solid action story

The first book was the hook for me, with the sudden disappearance of pretty much everyone inside the continental US (and implied death). Because of the timing that the author choose(2003), a lot of America's military muscle was already outside the US so that makes things slightly less catastrophic. And I kept on following things into the second book as the second order effects of the disappearance and then beginnings of reclamation of the now deserted US began (as well as the global chaos that came, nuclear war in the middle east and India/Pakistan regions).

This book picks up not too much afterward, now focusing more on the politics of the new America and her reduced role in the world. Overall it was a fairly standard action/spy novel with the unique catastrophic event background. I really only read this out of the fascination of how the author would continue to spin world events and to see what would happen to the now familiar characters. It was a fun book but I feel that this book neatly wraps up at least the characters lives in a fashion that even if there is another book, the odds of me continuing are pretty low.

A audio that makes you want to find time to listen

What made the experience of listening to Angels of Vengeance the most enjoyable?

The book was enjoyable to listen to it because, it was exciting and not to boring. I would listen as long as possible to it even after I was at my next work stop. The only negitive about the the book was that it finishs too fast but, Birmingham does tie up all the loose conections and ends it nicely.

Liberal claptrap

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This book was written with a liberal slant to almost every part of the book. I will never buy this author again. Besides that the story line is terrible and must have been written while he was high.

Would you ever listen to anything by John Birmingham again?

no

What didn’t you like about Tom Weiner’s performance?

lots of mispronounced words and this guy could put anyone to sleep

Was Angels of Vengeance worth the listening time?

no

Any additional comments?
