Resumen del Editor

What if the deadliest train wreck in the nation's history was no accident?

When a passenger train derails in North Philadelphia with fatal results, idealistic criminal defense attorney Vaughn Coburn takes on the most personal case of his young career. The surviving engineer is his cousin Eddy, and when Eddy asks Vaughn to defend him, he can't help but accept. Vaughn has a debt to repay, for he and his cousin share an old secret—one that changed both their lives forever.

As blame for the wreck zeros in on Eddy, Vaughn realizes there's more to this case than meets the eye. Seeking the truth behind the crash, he finds himself the target of malicious attorneys, corrupt railroad men, and a mob boss whose son perished in the accident and wants nothing less than cold-blooded revenge. With the help of his ex-con private investigator and an old flame who works for the competition, Vaughn struggles to defeat powerful forces—and to escape his own past built on secrets and lies.

Wasn't the best lawyer book read

This book wasn't great but not bad either. The beginning was so exciting, why would a conscience engineer intentionally cause a train wreak? Then all of a sudden things only his cousin, his lawyer, found out, and he himself was starting to doubt his client, his engineer cousin. Was he drinking again? Was he speaking on the phone? When he was younger he was racing and caused an officers death..these things were not known by the passengers that died, family members.

His wife & parents never doubted him for a minute, but Vaughn, his cousin/lawyer needed more understanding & he himself found himself in a dead-end of not knowing the facts.

Then the parts of the story I truly didn't like were the mob appearing. It appeared that one of the ”head guy” sons was also a dead victim and wanted the engineer either on deaths row or dead, period. The part that I had to re-read and listen were all these names? I couldn't figure out who they were? Then Vaughn, our lawyer, found out more victims from other incidents also implemented themselves and were sent to jail. The one thing they had in common was, they could never remember the things that happened right up to the ”accident”....and unless I missed something, I never figured that out either.

I won't give away too much more, but I felt it was too much mob and not enough discovery, such as why did they want to kill all these people or in one instance, a Dr performed a surgery on ”the wrong area” and he practically made fun of the woman, and when he went to prison he had no clue why he acted so insensitive? I didn't get any of that?!

I won't give the end away, but it was far too coincidental & ”something just happened to be there”!! This doesn't mean I wouldn't recommend it, because I do. I just believe this book was very subjective on the reader. When that happens we may just have a lot of different reviews, that's not so bad?!

I loved the narrator Adam Verber, just one point, his voice for women should be a little more ’womanly’? 😊

Good story, well written.

Well written, many twists and turns. Never like explicit sexual lines, would be fine without them. Otherwise very good

Interesting legal thriller!

An AMTRAK passenger train crashes in Philadelphia with 36 deaths and over 200 injuries. The train's engineer does nothing to try to slow down/stop the train. The engineer, who was gravely injured in the crash, recovers but remembers nothing. He is charged with 36 cases of manslaughter and 200 other lesser crimes.

This is author Myers' second novel. The protagonist is the engineer's defense attorney who is also his cousin and best friend. The plot twists come so fast they are difficult to keep up with. An Engineered Injustice is an easy 5 star suspense mystery. Narration is superb.

Epic Cheeeze!

Wow. I just finished listening. I’m laughing and marveling. How did this get made... which was cheesier, the story, the dialogue or (my vote) the all in cheesiest performance from a narrator I’ve ever listened to? Good gracious, it’s all so wonderfully bad. My daily dose of Advil can stop now that I won’t be rolling my eyes every four minutes. And yet, I did just finish. There was enough interest in how the plot would play out to keep slogging through. (Predictable, oh yes, but I held out hopes for a grand twist... nope) I would say, if you want an eye rolling romp, go for it, but... fair warning, keep some good crackers on hand for the flood of CHEEZE!! 😂

Character is actually named “Ballzack”

It’s pretty good, but the fact that a significant character’s name is Ballzack is distracting and kind of strange. Maybe he wasn’t thinking of the Audible version, or maybe it was intentional...idk. I just keep hearing “Ballzack” over and over.

Starts Slow. Speeds up in a hurry.

The pace of the book is tough to start. If you stick with it, you will find a story that is very scary in that it has probably happened and we are unaware of the nasty SOB's out there.

Author knocked it out of the ball park the last 95% of the book.

Great Read and Audible!

This is the 2nd edition to a three part book series (thus far). If you've read/listened to the first book you will enjoy this one fully. The first book is unmatched but the tale of another lawyer int he firms life and tale is refreshing. Cant wait to read/listen the the third installment.
