Emma's friends are close. Her enemies are closer.

Emma Fern has won at life: she's a prize-winning author and she's blissfully happy with her husband, Jim. It wasn't an easy rise to the top, but Emma knows you can't achieve success without sacrifice. The trouble is, Jim knows that too.

As her literary triumph starts to fade into the past, Emma comes under pressure to write a second bestseller. But her big secret is that she didn't write the first one. She's a fraud, and the only people who ever knew the truth are...no longer a problem.

What Emma didn't count on was Jim playing the long game too. He has his own secrets - and a dangerous plan that could derail her beautifully orchestrated life. Faced with the loss of everything that defines her, Emma is forced to take increasingly desperate steps.

She won't go down without a fight. And as Jim should know, she won't fight fair.

I wish the same narrator was used for both books. I preferred Kate Rudd but this one was ok. their performances made the personalities completely different from book to book. a few scenes were way too long like the one with the mother-in-law. but overall is was an entertaining book.

enjoyed

I couldn't figure it out throughout the story. I really enjoyed this book along.

Kept me guessing.

Book 2 in the series is good. What I hate is when an author changes the voices for the same characters. The voices sounded way to young for the part and way over played. The first book was a 5 this book is not. MB

Not as good as the first!

I read "Missing Molly" and loved it. Unfortunately, the ridiculous storyline, combined with the incredibly distracting narration, made me give up on this book before I finished it. The voices were so affected, it was hard to take any of it seriously, but I tried. I stuck with it, til I couldn't take it any more and simply stopped caring about what happened to any of the characters. Sad. I was so hopeful after "Missing Molly".

Hated narration

After the last Emma Fern book I couldn’t see how Barelli could twist me up and hold me by my shoestrings until I finished the second one. But she did! What a great writer. The narrator was so much smoother in this book too —Ms Robins was fantastic.

I couldn’t believe she did it again.

It's hard to write a sequel to a good book. I tend to like the first books most. That was true in this case but it was nice to see the rest of Emma's story. I'll read anything from Natalie Barelli though. Hands down my favorite author!

Nice Sequel

I can only say I want the hours of my life spent listening to this back.

Hated the lead character

I liked the story but loved the first one! I really enjoyed Kate Rudd narrating the story and wish she had been available for “After He Killed Me”. The narration almost changed the personality of Emma completely making her into a habitual whiner. The whining along with the annoying male voices made it difficult for me to keep listening. I did keep listening because I really enjoyed the first Emma Fern story.

The narrator got on my nerves

The Narrator was changed from the first book. It was very difficult, particularly the male voices which were horrible. The story keeps you going. Just like the first, really clever, suspenseful.

Story great, Narrator not.

loved this book just as much as the first Emma book, though you can get away without reading the first one, I suggest reading , until I met her first, for the full effect! very entertaining mystery!

addicting
