I am enjoying this new series.

As I have come to expect, Edie weaves an engaging tale with foes that demand respect, along with faithful allies and protagonists that grow in their own rights, to rise to the ever expanding challenges. The Bubba likes it! Do Recommend!
As a final note, I would like to mention the two voice actors who create a delightful listening experience. they are both first rate!

Story

One of the best Books and performances I have in my collection. I will be getting book 4 when it drops.

The strategy is to win

I'll elaborate on my review title in a bit, and preface the review with a quick statement.
I like this series and will listen/read this series to its conclusion. I do recommend it and think most will enjoy this without a qualm. I just have a gripe, and there was a tipping point somewhere later in that resulted in the writing of this review.
To start with, the story is interesting and a decent continuation from the last installment. The characters are fairly fleshed out and interesting. Pacing is fairly good overall, not to quick and not slowly draging things out. I like the antagonist presented for this installment and the direction the overall plot is taking.

Now to explain my single biggest gripe, which doesn't detract from my overall enjoyment much. Clark and gang suck at planning and don't put much thought into contingency EVER. When they enter a confrontation the plan is almost always "Let's go in, and kick their butt". It's not like that ever wasn't the goal, but that isn't really a plan. Half the time, our protagonist is just blindly rushing into conflict with nothing but a goal, hope, and wishes. The little prep he puts into a fight typically washes out, and he wins by luck or minor contrivances.
While I don't expect every story to feature cold unfeeling masterminds and grand strategy. It urk'd me when one good decision is followed by inaction, followed by hasty reaction, then bad decision, compounded by more hasty bad reactions. All while every step is made with no fallback plan, or contingency. They're college students for the most part and there's only so much they can think of and do, but I think they're taking the situation alittle too lightly. The enemy is an entrenched race of supernaturals who have pacified the entire planet, who have and will kill mercilessly to maintain the status quo. What made them think picking a fight with this enemy without a concrete method to protect their identity and loved ones was a good idea? or at least come to terms with the possibility of losing either of the aforementioned. They're pretty lackadaisical with it all considering the level of threat they taking on and it bothers me. That's it, rant over.
