What happened?
I know this story so well and have listened to it as well as read it. A wonderful tale steeped in history and a reminder of the loss of Native American culture. Sadly, I couldn't hear the narrator well. His intro was fine but there was almost a mumbling quality at times in the reading. I was very disappointed.

descriptions of tribal ways and the lands
The description of the weather patterns in the desert is very interesting. Also, the cultural differences are explained. I hope many who read this authors books are led to research and learn more.

Totally Engaging
Best yet in the Hillerman series! The weave of Navaho culture throughout along with its expression of connection to the landscape and Hillerman’s ability to convey a lot with spare prose held this reader in rapt attention throughout!
