Resumen del Editor

Think you know Shakespeare? Think again.

Will's immortal tales often have a higher body count than a teenage slasher flick—and just as many freakish creatures, and author David Bergantino's retrofitting has turned Shakespeare's centuries-old classics into modern-day fright fests!

At Globe University, romance is...complicated. Lenore likes Dimitri who likes Mia who likes Xander who, okay, likes Mia, too. When these mismatched couples are paired off for a summer school “parenting” assignment, trouble is clearly on the horizon—even before a spooky, old-fashioned carnival rolls into town.

The mysterious carnival—boasting sideshow freaks like the Wolf Boy, the Human Torso, and the seductive Lizard Woman—attracts the bored and unhappy college kids like the lurid purple glow of fresh cotton candy. But more than harmless thrills and chills are in store for the gang, as dark occult forces turn their lives upside down and their true love into murderous hate!

As the students face terror in the warm summer night, who will survive 'til the cold morning light?

fun slasher shakespeare

I’m new to audiobooks, and not a real fan of horror, but this book was a good balance of silly, scary, and macabre humor shakespeare. A purist of the Bard may think it blasphemous, but I appreciated the fresh take on the summer play. Carrie Brewer’s storytelling skills are on point, with hilarious characterizations- she did such a great job of bringing so many characters to life. Some of the author’s metaphors don’t stand the test of time, so I got lost on a few of the references- but overall, a lovely listen for a long summer drive!

Quirky, fun, and well-narrated play on Bard's work

I'm a fan of well-done, quirky, or just plain imaginative adaptations of Shakespeare's work (Scotland PA, Throne of Blood, etc.), but I've rarely sought out novels that deconstruct, lampoon, or adapt the Bard's words in any way. With this clever take on 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', I was not disappointed. A fun listen on my walks/commutes. The narrator (Carrie Brewer) does a great job of differentiating characters, and her voice is warm and crisp. She elevates the already-fun material. Will seek out more by Bergantino (and Brewer!).

SHAKESPEARE is ROLLING IN HIS GRAVE,BUT IT WAS FUN

A MIDSUMMERS NIGHT SCREAM BY DAVID BERGANTINO AND NARRATION BY CARRIE BREWER takes Shakespeare , horror and humor, stick them in a box, shake it up and poured it out resulting in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT SCREAM. The story starts out slow and in my opinion stupid but I kept on listening. The more I listened the more I got into the book.

Several college kids decided to go to the carnival that rolled into town . No big deal right? Wrong!! They go and they find they may never go a home again.

I received the audiobook free in exchange for an honest review
