An abused, grief-stricken, and impoverished Sonny has all but given up on life. That is, until he meets death, by way of the Grim Reaper. The Reaper, a junk food loving, poetry reading, cigarette-addicted entity, has no time to waste as he searches for a suitable successor who would become “Death” for the next millennium. By training the boy in the ways of death and dying, Reaper grooms his young apprentice and through suspenseful and horror-laced events, he unknowingly gives Sonny something he never intended: A reason to live.

Great voice to listen to, entertaining story! Gripping!

Really enjoyed this story! It was creepy but also humorous at times. A little gory but not too bad. Sometimes the pacing of the reading seemed a little off but the voice(s) were so great and held my attention! Definitely NOT monotone or hard to listen to. I really enjoyed this!

Book was good but audio is messed up

Chapter 5 is really chapter 4 again in the Audio. It also skips a chapter around chapter 10. Little clips of random audio are also in here. Other than that the story was great. The enthusiasm of the narrator was great!

Unique and relatable

I really enjoyed listening to this book. A unique story that is gripping, heartbreaking, maddening, and funny at times.

Satisfying Read

This was a fast-paced, satisfying story about a boy and his 10-day dance with the Grim Reaper, love, and grief. Excellently voiced.

Harry Potter much?

It’s as if Stephen king wrote a short underdeveloped Harry Potter. It was just fine an often the dialogue of the grim reaper was fantastic.
