Aurora Whitlock hit rock bottom.

Broke, single, and mourning her career going up in smoke, she decides to kick-start her new life by renovating the bones of an old beach house hidden along the Carolina coast.

What a cliché—inheriting a fixer-upper from a deceased relative. That kind of thing only happens in books.

But beggars can’t be choosers. The Old Whitlock Place, and all its secrets, is home sweet home for the summer.

Jack Wharton didn’t expect to find a summertimer squatting in the dilapidated mansion next door.

As a career firefighter tasked with protecting Cedar Island, North Carolina, he’s seen a thing or two. But he’s never seen anything quite like her.

Painting walls and fixing floors in the middle of summer shouldn’t be that hard to handle. But the temperature isn’t the only thing that’s hot. Can Jack and Aurora’s sizzling romance stand the heat? Or will the secrets they uncover consume them?

700 Senses of Summer is a fun summer story full of witty banter, the best girl gang you’ll ever meet, mystery, and a scorching romance with a swoony happily ever after! It is book two in the Romantics series, but can be listened to as a standalone.

I enjoyed this second book in The Romantics series. Stand alone interconnected stories about romance authors. This one follows Aurora as she works to renovate her great aunt’s dilapidated home. Along the way she falls for her firefighter neighbor and discovers a buried truth about her great aunt.

This was sweet and I really liked how our MMC supported and encouraged Aurora. And I also loved how he pulled in her friends for extra support.

This was just very enjoyable.

A sweet and spicy one

I really enjoyed the narration of this story.

Aurora Whitlock - also known as Wander Whitlock - is an author with an unfinished series because she's blocked. She's determined to forget she ever had a career as a published author, and just wants to update and remodel her eccentric aunt's house and move on with her life.

Her neighbor - Jack Wharton - is a firefighter. He never thought he'd fall in love. But as he gets to know Aurora, helping her work on the house, he knows that he doesn't want her to leave.

And then, there's the mystery of what great-aunt Juniper was doing. As they find clues that don't seem to make sense, recovering from the most dramatic of moments in the books, Aurora figures out the key to the puzzle and Jack figures out what it might all mean.

This was a very enjoyable read.
