Takes a dive into dark

The book started well with an interesting premise - reintroducing wolves back into an old habitat - but spiraled into way too much blood, violence and ugliness among the characters. The whole situation with Aggie seemed irrelevant adding nothing to the story and an unnecessary distraction from the fascinating main plot line. Also, please, please, authors, enough already with all the f-bombs!

Beautifully Narrated

it's a moving story., I loved the location. I had trouble with a bit of the storyline. It got a little confusing and didn’t make sense. How did a girl sneak up and kill the Sherriff after he saw her kill his dog right in front of him??

Magnificently riveting

Author MacConaghy tears at the heart and the flesh in this graphic tale, once again reminding us that we are not the superior beings we imagine ourselves. The serene wisdom of these majestic creatures set against the feeble misery of mankind brought me to tears several times. The novel’s character portraits are further brought to life by brilliant reading/acting of the nearly dozen voices in at least three distinct dialects. Just as with ‘Migrations’ from the same author, this one will stay with me for a long time and I will surely read again!!

Beautiful Book

I rolled my eyes at the title and the summation. Boy, was I wrong. This is an amazing story. It combines love, mystery and imparts knowledge of this planet, how everything is intertwined and dependent. The best line of this book is that we don’t own this planet, we are the custodians. Plus, you can’t go wrong listening to the beautiful narration. Highly recommend.

Loved the mystery and environmental ties. Scotland and wolves are favorites already so it would be hard to miss my appreciation.

I enjoyed the story and wished it was more. I would have loved to hear how her and the wolf’s adventure played on.

Character development

I liked the story, but the characters weren’t really developed enough for me. Some of their behaviors and dialogue was so abrupt it was confusing. It had good bones and the narrator was really good.

it's a snoozer

I fell asleep and missed 4-5 hours of the storyline and was able to pick it back up as is nothing happened. It drags on. I wish it was one that was included in the subscription, but I wouldn't waste a credit on it again.

accents are fun, fair knowledge of wolves, but ehhhhh... for the story.

Mystery? Or Science lesson? Either way, it was a great read.

I learned so much about wolves and the workings of our ecosystem and along the way I got to enjoy a good whodunnit!
