Once upon a time two lawyers fell in love across a courtroom...

Mostly The Law of Attraction was an extremely humorous & witty romance starring public defender Gabrielle (26) and A.D.A. Braden (27). Their eccentric friends and family members added extra humor and emotional depth to their unique love story. The author has a wickedly funny sense of humor and a gift for snappy dialogue.

The narration was excellent, until Tavia Gilbert started over-acting during the intimate scenes. What were they thinking? It ruined any chance of a romantic or erotic feeling; I just cringed, laughed and had to fast forward to keep from gagging.

I was disappointed over several small things. First I expected the lawyers to be a little older and more mature; at times it felt like they were all still in college. Next, the courtroom scenes were funny but short and not compelling.

Lastly, Braden kept joking about hitting Gabrielle, as if physical assault was a joke rather than a crime. When Gabrielle didn't tell Braden to go pound sand, I wanted to scream. Why do female writers try to promote domestic abuse as entertaining and acceptable behavior?

What did you like best about The Law of Attraction? What did you like least?

The book was fine. It was funny. The narrator is rough. I get that this book has sex scenes, but I don't want the narrator moaning and groaning through them as if she's having sex. No other narrator does that. I had to fast forward because it felt like I was actually infringing on her own personal sex life.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Again, the story was fine. There wasn't a whole lot of plot.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The narrator could have just read the sex scenes without moaning and huffing and pretending she was having an orgasm. It was disgusting.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Maybe.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Seriously disappointed in the narrator's tone of voice used to read what is one of my favorite bks. She’s chosen to sound uppity and prissy throughout most of the story and the voice she uses for Braden (Hero) doesn’t inspire the total hotness that is sweet, fun, sexy Braden either. Total buzz kill. To bad this was a dud, it ruins what was a fun, sexy, often laugh out loud funny, good time read. My advice to listeners….read the bk instead, that’s where the entertainment lies.

What other book might you compare The Law of Attraction to and why?

Julie James series.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tavia Gilbert?

If she'd used another tone of voice it migh have helped. But another narrator would have been a good idea as well.

Could you see The Law of Attraction being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Absolutely.

Love the bk, dislike the narration

I was not impressed. The worst part is that there is no ending at all. It ends in the middle of the story only to continue in the next book.

This was a fun easy read. No real conflict or drama. Great book to put a smile on your face! Recommended for mature audiences.

Lawyers need love too

Standard rich white people having great chemistry. If you want carbon copy upscale romance complete with descriptions of song titles for every situation this is the tale for you! But the narrator essentially is having an orgasm during all romance scenes, never something I thought I'd be compelled to complain about. I couldn't listen to it. I'll stick to physical copies of books.

Gabrielle is a public defender, and Braden is a prosecutor. They often work in the same court room and quickly realize that they are both very attracted to one another. One issue is that Braden is a notorious player who is always ready to hook up, but doesn't date. Gabrielle wants Braden, but isn't interested in a one night stand with anyone. A little booze and some witty banter has them negotiating their way into the start of a relationship. Once that is taken care of, some outside issues arise.

I enjoyed this book quite a lot. The main characters are very witty as are their friends. Experiencing the sexual tension building up between Gabrielle and Braden was pretty spectacular, but not quite as spectacular as when they finally vented it! These two have some serious chemistry and while the hot stuff is really hot, the banter and intellectual connection these two find and experience was absolutely wonderful to witness. After Gabrielle and Braden connect, we see that there are other people who want relationships with either Gabrielle or Braden and are ready to cause problems for the new couple. Gabrielle is receiving mysterious threatening letters, and those who want Braden are being very clear about their desires. There are definitely moments where Gabrielle makes some pretty crazy decisions about how to handle certain situations, but ultimately even the ridiculous bits add to the charm and fun of the story. I really enjoyed the main characters as well as their friends.

I did actually read this book before I listed to the audio version. I was excited to experience this story again, and the narrator did a pretty fantastic job of bringing Gabrielle and the other characters to life. At times, the narrator had me convinced that she was actually living the story (and having a lot of fun doing so). I highly recommend this book, and look forward to listening to more in this series.

Outstanding audio performance made this book so much better than the actual story. There were plenty of laugh out loud moments and the intimate scenes were off the chart hot. I deem this worthy of a credit!.

I just listened to this book on Audible.com and I loved it! The story is fast paced, sexy and hilarious, also the cast of characters are very smart and witty. One of the best narrated books ever! The different characters were easily distinguishable and the narration was done with great acting skills.
Just bought the next book ( I hope there will be more) I'm gonna be up all night listening. I hope for more from both author and narrator!

This is a wonderful story and the beginning of such a great series! I loved the inflection brought to the story by the narrator and I hope she is the voice of future books
