I'm not sure what’s real anymore. One minute, I’m living a perfectly mundane, comfortable life, and the next, I’m being married off to a man I’ve never met in a quickie ceremony, then whisked away to live in his creepy old mansion on a secluded estate.

My new husband is dangerous and unpredictable. Sometimes he’s calm, and sometimes he’s chaos. It’s like his personality is fractured in two halves; I never know which side of him I’m going to get, and the constant looking over my shoulder is starting to take its toll.

Secrets lurk around every corner in the manor, and the more I try to uncover them, the deeper they bury themselves. I’m not sure if this place is haunted by the dead or the living, and I’m beginning to feel like I’m going a little crazy. It isn’t long before I find myself embroiled in a twisted game of cat-and-mouse with the devil I married, and as I unlock the secrets of my new home, it becomes clear that if the patterns of the past repeat themselves, I won’t be making it out of here alive.

Split is a dark psychological thriller romance. The audiobook is a duet narration with Madison Mitts and Theodore Zephyr. These two knocked it out of the park. Theodore had the perfect voice for Roman Volkov. He had the perfect tone and deepness. It was exactly how I thought he would sound in my head. Madison also did a stellar job as Eliza. Her emotion and tone was on point. This book was such a great listen. I had already read it but I was still on the edge of my seat because the two narrators did such a phenomenal job I was able tonjust listen and enjoy.

I absolutely loved the dark gothic vibes. The house and the grounds were so mysterious and I loved the haunting vibes.
I enjoyed Eliza's character. She didn't let her spirit get crushed. She stood up for herself and used her strengths to get through being sold into her marriage.
Roman was dark and mysterious and I loved the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality of him. The story kept me on the edge of my seat. Overall I enjoyed it.
The narration was good!

What an awesome story and plot twist. It kept me on my toes the entire time. Theo and Madi were great like always. Looking forward to listening to more with them. The only issue I had was it left me wanting more. Hmmm maybe a 2nd one🤔 you never know when things happen when kids or involved.

Duet Narration with Madison Mitts and Theodore Zephyr - these two will always make a great duo! And Theodore will always make the perfect psychopath! Ever since hearing them both in Myers by Zepphora he's definitely one of my top choices for an unhinged man!

This book definitely gave me both Jekyll and Hyde and Beauty and the Beast vibes - both of which I absolutely loved!

Eliza is the daughter of a Bratva leader and is sold off to Roman to help with alliances - she has no say in the mater and Roman makes it very clear pretty fast that he's not marrying her for any other reason. She's whisked off to his gothic mansion in the middle of nowhere and quickly realizes that her new husband has two VERY different sides to his personality.

I loved the underlying tension throughout the entire book - every chapter you could feel the tension not only between Eliza and Roman but also between Eliza and Clara, and you could feel her isolation the further the book went.

Eliza did drive me a bit nuts - constantly she's taking all these different steps for an escape plan but never actually goes through with any of them even though she's constantly saying "I hate this place I have to get out but I have to be smart" but then continues to... you know NOT be smart and never actually execute any of her plans.

I also loved the underlying mysteries throughout as well - is the mansion actually haunted? What's really going on with Roman? Is Eliza's shadow real or a ghost? When we finally get the answers to everything, it's definitely one I didn't see coming! CJ did such a great job weaving the story you'll be believing one thing and then get smacked in the face with the reality. So tempted to go back and listen all over again from the beginning knowing what I know now to see if/how it changes how I take the story.
