From #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Murphy and USA Today bestselling author Sierra Simone comes a brand-new college town raunch-com about a sexy single dad professor and a feisty law school grad turned nanny in this steamy tale of Academic Affairs…

Class is in session.

Maddie Kowalczk is ready to be a bad girl. When the rookie lecturer lands at Astra University, she’s looking to start fresh after a messy breakup. But her first night in town takes a twist when she bumps into Bram Loe—a reserved but incredibly handsome single dad she (not so accidentally) stole a parking spot from earlier that day. The unspoken chemistry as he locks eyes with her while she gets a birthday spanking at a local bar is hotter than a Bunsen burner at full flame.

Bram is looking for a break from his hectic life as an ecology professor and dad to rambunctious twins and a busy teenager. So when his college friend’s divorce celebration brings him face-to-face with the same delectable brat who stole his parking spot, he’s ready for a night to remember. But the next morning, Bram’s world turns upside down (and that’s not just the hangover talking). His new nanny? None other than Maddie, who also happens to be the new poli-sci adjunct at the university where he teaches.

Maddie is desperate and broke, so when Bram offers her a raise and the chance to set some ground rules, she can’t say no. As the two settle into their new roles, the normally unruffled Bram finds that no one riles him up like Maddie does, which is a problem when every argument feels like foreplay. Of course, Bram is an educator first and foremost, and he very quickly finds he can’t resist the temptation of instructing Maddie in the fundamentals of being a good girl.

And it turns out Maddie’s a hands-on learner…

Just as expected for this dynamic duo writing fun, quirky, yet sexy as hell romance novels?! Love all the subtle LFK references; made me feel like I was back in the Hill!
Plant Daddy is one of my new favorite book boyfriends—Nerdy, sad mushy heart, sexy as hell- can take direction like the best of them—with love to give the world! Julie and Sierra can’t do wrong in my eyes! 5 stars, hands down.

I listened to The Fundamentals of Being a Good Girl mostly because I love the MMC narrator, and it was such a fun, quick hit of spice. If you’re looking for something flirty, playful, and not too emotionally heavy, this absolutely delivers. It’s lighter than some of Sierra Simone’s deeper, more angsty work, but you still get her signature wit and intelligence woven throughout the story.

As always, I loved the Kansas references — they feel like little Easter eggs if you’re familiar with her worlds. That said, if you’re expecting the epic intensity of the New Camelot or Lyonesse trilogies, this isn’t that. It’s more of a breezy, clever, spicy romp than a sweeping, soul-wrecking saga.

Perfect palate cleanser read when you want heat without the emotional devastation.

The Fundamentals of Being a Good Girl is a fun, steamy, and emotionally layered story that completely pulled me in. Madelyn arrives in a small town to begin a new chapter of her life, and has a birthday night out that quickly spirals into a wildly unforgettable one-night stand. The twist? Bram — the man she clashes with over a parking spot and then spends the night with — turns out to be her new boss when she starts a nanny job the very next day. Cue the tension, awkwardness, and undeniable chemistry.

I was lucky enough to catch Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone on their book tour for this book, and they shared their writing process. Julie Murphy wrote Madelyn’s POV while Sierra Simone wrote Bram’s. Their writing styles are distinct yet blend seamlessly, creating a dynamic reading experience that feels fresh and perfectly balanced.

This book delivers humor, heart, and heat alongside deeper themes of self-discovery, found family, conflict, and the delicious tension of a forbidden relationship. I truly enjoyed the ride.
