OK, that’s enough about Joe though I love him dearly. This book is awesome fantastic phenomenal one of the best I’ve ever heard. It’s kind of sick and crazy and deranged, but it’s well well written, and then performance of the narrators is off the charts I would give it a 10 out of 10 if I could, but I give it a five out of five best book ever!!!

First off, this book is categorized as erotic horror not dark romance. There is a big difference between these two genres. While there is a HEA, most erotic horrors do not have a HEA. Also with this genre, I would say the stories are pitch black vs. morally grey. So, if you are not ready for dark, dark reads that do include gore, then I would stay away from this book but if you don't really have triggers, by all means jump right into this book.
May I recommend though that if you are an audiobook fan that you grab the ALC. Performed in duet by Juniper Reyes & Joe Arden. Yes, you read this right. The ALC has Joe narrating.

This book is DARRRK! It is soaked in trauma and horror but there are also moments of softness and light and for me having that little bit of good wrapped up in all the dark makes the story that much more impactful!
I went into this audiobook without having read the other books first… I know! lol but in my defense I didn’t know about the series until after I had applied for the ALC of this one! 😂😂 while I didn’t feel like I was missing out on any information during this book, I do want to go back and read the other books because I loved this one so much!
Let’s talk about this audiobook real quick… PERFECTION! The narrators did such an amazing job and I swear no one reads crazy quite like Joe Arden!

Joe Arden is a favorite of mine, and I’ve listened to him narrate a ridiculous number of books. I even heard him narrate parts of this one live in the Audio Attic, so I knew some of these scenes were coming.
Did that help me? No.
Juniper Reyes was completely new to me, and she absolutely impressed me. The difference between Ines and Leandra was incredible. Ines has an unsettling presence, while Leandra is enduring extremely difficult circumstances with Isaac and Ezekiel. Juniper made them feel like completely different people, and her performance was phenomenal.
This is only the second book I’ve read where the male main character feels every bit as emotionally damaged as the female main character. Somehow, it’s also the book that begins helping them heal. After the previous books, this felt like a powerful relief.
I’m pretty sure Joe Arden and Ellie Sanders persuaded me to love Lazarus. Should that concern me? Probably.
His devotion to her is intense.
Would I recommend this series? Yes… with a giant, flashing CHECK YOUR WARNINGS sign.
If you’re normally someone who says, “I don’t have triggers, so I don’t check warnings,” check them anyway. At the very least, be prepared for the intensity of this series.
This is genuinely one of the darkest series I’ve ever read. It’s incredibly well written, and the audio performance is phenomenal, but Ellie Sanders is going to take you places.
I’ve said before that I think books are art, and the best art makes you feel something.
