At Audible, we believe in the transformative power of stories and imagination. As part of Audible’s global commitment to youth and education, the Future Stories Fund invests in innovative, storytelling-led projects that help underrepresented young people aged 12–18 unlock their creativity, strengthen their confidence, and expand their sense of what’s possible. By connecting language, self-expression and real-world opportunities, we aim to nurture the next generation of storytellers, innovators and leaders.
What We Fund
We will be offering grants of up to $350,000 MXN to non-profit community-based organizations whose work uses storytelling, language and creative expression to broaden skillsets for young people – helping them share their lived experiences, challenge dominant narratives, and imagine new futures for themselves and their communities. Alongside the funding we will also offer an optional package of capacity building support for your organization. There will be opportunities for up to two grantees to secure further funding to scale impactful projects, following the Future Stories Fund.
To be eligible, projects must:
- Serve young people aged 12-18 (11-year-olds can also participate, if they are in escuela secundaria)
- Engage youth from historically excluded communities (e.g. youth from indigenous/native peoples and other ethnic or racialized groups, gender, disability, neurodivergence, LGBTQ+, low‑income)
- Embed storytelling at its core, within project design and delivery
- Demonstrate an innovative approach to using storytelling to ignite imagination and build skills
For full details on the criteria your project must meet, please read the Eligibility section below.
Youth Outcomes We’re Looking For
The Future Stories Fund is part of Audible’s Imagination Next focus – designed to help young people develop the confidence, creativity and transferable skills they need to thrive in education, employment and wider society.
This Fund supports projects that help youth:
- Grow imagination and creativity through storytelling and self-expression so they can share their voice and shape their own narratives
- Build the confidence and self-belief to pursue any path of their choosing
- Develop and strengthen key skills such as communication, literacy, collaboration, critical thinking and audio literacy that they can carry into higher education, employment, and community engagement.
- Broaden horizons through exposure to new environments, opportunities and networks
- Encourage experimentation and curiosity, giving them the chance to try new ways of crafting and sharing stories
Who Can Apply
The Future Stories Fund invites applications from non-profit organizations working at a local level in Mexico City and/or the State of Mexico, Morelos, Hidalgo, Puebla, Tlaxcala, and Guerrero. You will need to be officially registered, appear in an official non-profit directory, have an organizational bank account, and have been operating for a minimum of three years.

- Grassroots-level action. You are a small to medium size non-profit organization or group working closely with your community. To ensure we reach projects on the ground, we will only fund applicants with an annual operating budget of $6,000,000 MXN or less. If you exceed this threshold and a significant proportion of your income is restricted or pass‑through funding that does not reflect your core operating capacity, you may still apply and will be given an opportunity to provide further details in your application.
- Deep knowledge of the community you serve. You are rooted in the communities you work with – ideally with lived experience represented in your leadership, staff, volunteers or project team.
- A realistic and responsible use of funding. Your budget request shows a clear and reasonable plan for delivering a project of up to 12 months in duration.
For full details on the criteria your project must meet, please read the Eligibility section below.
Alongside the grant you will be offered an optional package of capacity building support, which is practical help and guidance to help you grow and/or strengthen your organization. We will work with you to tailor a package that meets your needs.

FUTURE STORIES FUND x UK
While 2026 is the first year that the Future Stories Fund has been run in Mexico, the Fund has been run in the UK for the past two years with a focus on a different region in each year. In 2025/26 three incredible organizations from the West Midlands region were selected to receive funding, helping to give a voice to the youth in their communities. Read on for more details on how they used their funding:
Calathea Arts, Solihull: Calathea Arts empowered neurodiverse young people to explore and respond to local street art through storytelling. Across eight creative workshops, participants engaged with poetry, spoken word, and performance, developing skills in writing, sound design, and public speaking. A collection of interviews with various street artists, and collaboration with sound designers enabled participants to create original audio pieces that were presented at a public exhibition attended by the local Mayor. Through these activities, the young people involved were able to build confidence, embrace creativity, and self-expression through immersive, multi-sensory storytelling experiences.
Inspire Hub Central, Birmingham: Inspire Hub Central created ‘Beyond the Margins’, an innovative storytelling programme for marginalised youth in Sparkbrook, Birmingham. Aimed at young people from Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Somali and other underrepresented communities in the area, the programme blended poetry, playwriting, podcasting and theatre to explore identity and culture. Through monthly workshops, mentoring, live showcases and collaborations with local platforms, the project helped participants build confidence, language skills and career aspirations – offering creative tools and real-world opportunities to amplify youth voices and shape future pathways.
Powerhouse Creative, Herefordshire: Powerhouse Creative ran a 6-month story and audio production programme with young people from the most deprived communities in and around Herefordshire. The programme involved script-writing sessions, and production of short-form audio dramas and podcasts about the participants' personal stories. By building passion around storytelling and gaining valuable transferable skills in reading, writing, performance and digital production, the programme aimed to build young people’s confidence to share their voice, build their imagination, and help them build skills to explore creative careers.

If you would like to submit any, just make sure they’re relevant to the project you’re proposing, and please send these via email with your organisation’s name in the email subject line, and let us know which questions they are in response to.
When can I apply?
Applications are open from Wednesday 12th August until Wednesday 7th October 2026 at 11:59pm.

Can we collaborate with other organisations / partners to submit an application?
Yes, as long as you identify which is the lead organisation on the application, and that organisation takes on the role of communicating and engaging throughout the funding period. Any optional capacity building support arrangements would be made with the lead organisation.
Partnerships, or the number of them, isn’t a factor that’s considered during the judging process.
Can I get any support with my application?
Yes! We have recorded a webinar talking through the details of the fund, what projects are eligible and how to apply. You can access the recording here.
You can also reach out to us any time over email or WhatsApp (contact details above), and we are also running drop-in sessions throughout the application period if you want to ask any questions or talk through an idea. To book a slot, click here.
Which regions are covered by the grant?
The fund currently covers Mexico City (CDMX), which includes Álvaro Obregón, Azcapotzalco, Benito Juárez, Coyoacán, Cuajimalpa de Morelos, Cuauhtémoc, Gustavo A. Madero, Iztacalco, Iztapalapa, La Magdalena Contreras, Miguel Hidalgo, Milpa Alta, Tláhuac, Tlalpan, Venustiano Carranza, and Xochimilco, as well as other states including the State of Mexico, Morelos, Hidalgo, Puebla, Tlaxcala, and Guerrero.
What do you mean by historically excluded communities?
Youth who have been historically discriminated against and excluded from full rights, privileges and opportunities in society due to factors in their identity. These factors include, but are not limited to: indigenous/native peoples and other ethnic or racialized groups, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion, neurodiversity, socioeconomic status, immigration status and geographic location.
What do you mean by ‘storytelling’?
What types of projects are eligible? Eligible projects may involve reading, writing, podcasts, poetry, theatre, acting, playwriting, and anything else relating to language and expression. These approaches are to be used to help young people develop the confidence, creativity and transferable skills they need to thrive in education, employment and wider society.
Are there any projects that aren’t eligible?
We do have a few restrictions:
-
Projects that solely involve music, art or dance are not eligible. If music, art or dance form part of a variety of approaches, with language and storytelling also prominently included, then those projects will be considered for funding.
-
You cannot use the grant to continue or expand an existing project in the same location, with the same target beneficiaries, using the same approach – there must be something innovative about your project (see next question).
-
Your organisation and project must not have any religious or political affiliations.
What do you mean by innovation?
Your project must take an innovative approach to using storytelling to ignite imagination and build skills amongst participants. The innovation can be within the project design, a new way to reach and engage with a target group, a new methodology, a novel collaboration or mixed-methods approach, exploring a unique social challenge, and/or using new tools to tell stories and spark young people’s imagination and creativity.
Are there any limitations on how the grant is spent?
As long as the spending is directly connected to the delivery of your project, there are no restrictions! The grant can be spent on project costs, staff salaries, venue expenses, food and travel stipends for participants etc.
Are there any limitations on when the funds must be used?
Yes – funding must be used to deliver a time bound project beginning within 6 months of receiving the grant and completed within 12 months of receiving the grant. We aim to distribute funding in early January 2027, so your project must start by mid-June 2027, and be completed by the end of December 2027 at the latest.
Is there an income limit for which organisations can apply?
Future Stories Fund aims to fund small-medium size organizations, so we are inviting organizations with an annual income of $6,000,000 MXN or less to apply.
If you exceed this threshold because a significant proportion of your income is restricted or pass through funding that does not reflect your core operating capacity, you may still apply and will be given an opportunity to provide further details in your application.
Similarly, if you exceed this threshold because a significant proportion of your income is commercial and is not directed towards your community work, you may still apply and will be given an opportunity to provide further details in your application.
What happens after I’ve submitted my application?
Once entries close at the end of Wednesday 7th October, all applications will be reviewed and the strongest projects will be shortlisted. If you have not made it through the shortlisting process, we will let you know by the end of October 2026. If you have been shortlisted, we may get in contact with you to ask some follow up questions. If you have been shortlisted, we will be in contact with you by late November 2026 to let you know if you’ve been successful, pending a few verification checks including board and funder references.
Do we get any additional support during the funding period?
All successful grantees will receive a dedicated contact to answer any questions and work through any challenges throughout the funding period. More formal quarterly calls are arranged to check in on this, but you may contact them at any point during the funding period via email or WhatsApp. The Audible PR team may also reach out and request your assistance to promote the Future Stories Fund and your work.
Successful grantees will also be offered an optional consultancy support package that runs alongside the funding, to be used in whichever way is most useful to you. Indicative options could include:
- Governance
- Monitoring and evaluation
- Organizational development
- Campaigning and influencing
- Building and maintaining partnerships
- Fundraising
- Financial planning
- Senior leadership coaching
- Community involvement
- Marketing and communications
- Strategy and positioning
- Culture and ways of working
The nature of the support will be discussed and agreed with you, to ensure that it is targeted in the way that is most valuable for your organization’s growth.
Are there any monitoring and evaluation expectations?
Your point of contact will be there to help throughout the funding period, and will take you through the fund’s expectations before we get started. Evaluation will involve one survey once your project is completed to capture the impact delivered by your project, and if you choose to take up the optional consultancy support, there will be another survey to check how useful you found it for your organization. We also ask that you encourage your beneficiaries to complete a simple survey before and after your project takes place, so we can really capture the impact of your project on the young people involved. We will share all surveys with you at the start of the funding period, so you know what data you’ll need to collect over the course of your project.
