Susan Gayle is an avid lover of history and daughter of a Gold Star Military family member (daughter of brother of serviceman killed in WWII). Her father and 5 uncles served in the U.S. military. She is a charter member of the New Orleans WWII museum, member of the Texas Legislative Ladies and a physician. Though her previous writing was medical articles, she turned her hand to fiction when she discovered the source materials that led to The Caves of San Pietro, based on a true story. She completed the SMU Creative Writing Program in Dallas and completed her first novel. This first book has won awards including a top ten finish in the Master Category of Ink and Insights Writing Contest and was selected for SMU's 2019 New York Writing Event. Susan is a graduate student at Arizona State University, working on her Masters in World War II History. She enjoys writing, traveling and relaxing weekends at the lake with her family.
