Roopika Risam is Assistant Professor of English and English Education and Faculty Fellow for Digital Library Initiatives at Salem State University, where she founded and directs the Graduate Certificate in Digital Studies and the Digital Scholars Program, an undergraduate digital humanities research program. Risam's research focuses on building and sustaining humanities knowledge infrastructures in postcolonial, African diaspora, and U.S. ethnic studies. Her first book, New Digital Worlds: Postcolonial Digital Humanities in Theory, Praxis, and Pedagogy, was published by Northwestern University Press in 2018. She is also co-editor of The Digital Black Atlantic for the Debates in the Digital Humanities series at University of Minnesota Press. Risam's work has also appeared in journals including Digital Scholarship in the Humanities, Digital Humanities Quarterly, First Monday, and Popular Communications, among others. She is also co-founder of Reanimate, an intersectional feminist publishing collective that recovers archival writing by women in media activism.
