Richard moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1999 from Huntsville, Alabama, in his early 20s. After some soul-searching, he found his calling in the financial and insurance industry. In 2014, he purchased a historic 1906 patented mining claim, embarking on an eight-year renovation project to restore its former glory. Today, he calls it home, living alongside his son, two chickens, three cats, and a few unexpected—but tolerated—skunks.
