Randall Stevens was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1946. He Joined the Massachusetts State Police in 1968 and retired in 2001 after thirty-two years of service. Beginning as a road Trooper, he later worked for district attorneys, investigative bureaus, and undercover in narcotics. He commanded substations, and at the rank of lieutenant served as the Executive Officer of Troop B in Western Massachusetts. He went on to build homes, a mini-mall, and a successful retail business with his first wife, Marion, who died of cancer after forty years of marriage. He is dedicated to his family and work. An avid skier, he taught his daughters to ski and always involved himself in their upbringing. Randall's hobbies include drawing, watercolor painting, motorcycling, golf, music, old movies, cooking, and writing. I Hate Campaign Hats, which he began writing fifty years ago, is his first book. His early career notes highlighted the silliest of humor, joy, and sadness that came with the job. Randall has two daughters and lives with his second wife, Anne, in Western Massachusetts.
