Penny was born in South East London and began writing in primary school, encouraged by a brilliant teacher.
This influenced her decision to train as a primary school teacher, but the desire to write persisted.
Penny's first full length novel, a psychological thriller TIDELINE was a Richard and Judy Summer read. Set on the Thames in Greenwich, it was inspired by the area of London she grew up in.
I THOUGHT I KNEW YOU a suspense novel about the allegation that breaks up two best friends, won the East Anglian book of the year prize for fiction. It was also optioned three times by 51 Entertainment in the US.
THE INGENIOUS MISS SLY a psychological thriller set in the 1960s explores what happens when an overlooked woman engineer becomes obsessed with a more successful colleague.
Before publishing novels Penny wrote Readers for learners of English as a foreign language. These are the books with the little coloured rectangle at the top you can see on her page. They are all romances, but with a social message or twist.
Penny has two grown up daughters, a son and four granddaughters. Fascinated by fhe complexities of human relationships, family dynamics, and the darker side of our personalities, swimming in cold water is where she gets her best, and often most frightening ideas.
