Morag is a Geordie at heart, despite having lived in Suffolk since 1979. She worked for the Civil Service, before becoming a library assistant, having always loved books and reading. Twenty years later, she became a veterinary receptionist, whilst still working part time at the library, thus combining her love of animals and books. She won her first writing competition in 1982 and her prize, a word-processor, made the whole business of writing much easier than on a manual typewriter. She progressed from writing short stories for magazines, to novel writing, and her first romantic novel, A Love Betrayed, was published in 1990 by Robert Hale Ltd for their Rainbow Romance series. Morag describes herself as a people watcher, and characters and relationships feature heavily in her stories. Her love of animals, and horses in particular, inspired her to write her next novel, a comedy romance based on the theme of Cinderella, but set in a riding school. Green Wellies and Wax Jackets was closely followed by the sequel, Muddy Boots. She wrote the Coach Trip because she wanted to write a romance about older people, with characters that weren’t the classic tall, dark and handsome, or beautiful and blonde. It seemed to hit the right note with readers. She may, she says, continue the theme in her next novel.
