As the Founding CEO and visionary of Valve+Meter Performance Marketing, Marcia Barnes knows something about leading and serving. Now on a mission to help a hundred companies realize 10x more in business valuation, Marcia Barnes, founder and CEO of Valve+Meter Performance Marketing, continues to build her career on growing businesses across the United States. A farmer's daughter, Marcia learned many valuable skills growing up in rural Indiana. Coupled with her faith, work ethic, and servant mindset, she's learned to reinvent herself. “I discovered that ability, combined with a strong work ethic, has transferred to my business and personal life,” quips Marcia. “These lessons helped me move from occasional brokenness, poverty, and debt to health, confidence, and success. Because of this, I consistently reinvent myself using these fundamental tools, and I have a passion for helping others do the same.” In addition to leading multiple marketing agencies, she is well known for her leadership as President and CEO at Indianapolis-based Defender Direct (acquired by ADT in 2020). Over the course of her 14-year tenure with the company, Defender Direct experienced exponential growth from $2M to more than $400M in annual revenue. In her first book, Here We Grow, Marcia tells how the math-before-marketing model helped scale Defender Direct and how she and her team have used those principles to help hundreds of other businesses. Beyond ROMs and Growth Rate, Marcia recounts how family, bullies, teachers, business partners, and mentors shaped her growth journey. “As a Christian, I think my role is less about telling others what to believe and more about showing them what believers do.” Marcia lives in Indianapolis and serves on many local boards, including Truth At Work. She is passionate about youth and mission work and enjoys reading, golf, and running.
