Jane Kwan is a Chartered Professional Accountant with over 25 years of experience in accounting and finance. She graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson University) with a major in accounting. Shortly after graduation, she started working for CPA firms, then worked as a financial controller for various private and publicly traded companies. In 2012, she started her own accounting firm, where she now assists entrepreneurs with their businesses, providing financial reporting and tax compliance services. As the eldest in a family of 7 children, Jane was always expected by her parents to teach her younger siblings and be a role model. Now she is a mom of a teen and a pre-teen. As she was teaching her children a bit about money management, she felt that others could also benefit from her knowledge and experience. With today’s economic challenges, many more people are finding it difficult to survive financially. Her debut book, “Personal Finance for Teens: Avoid Financial Pitfalls and Unlock Secrets to Make Money, Build Savings, and Invest in Your Future,” is geared towards helping teens gain the important life skill of money management at an early age. The book provides simple strategies and tips for making money, saving, budgeting, spending, debt management, and investing. Advice is also given on things to look out for to avoid getting into financial trouble. The information is laid out and explained in easily understood terms. Her personal and professional life stories related to personal finance are also included to help illustrate the concepts. Teens will gain a wealth of knowledge that will set them on a path to financial success. Besides running her accounting practice and writing books, Jane enjoys spending time with her family and friends, taking walks, and having “movie night” with her children.
