Ima Sooner is a former Oklahoma Sooner, her name is Mary Thompson. She pitched for Oklahoma in 1985 and 1986. Mary is from Des Moines, Iowa and was recruited by Marita Hynes after winning a National Championship in 1984 at Central Arizona College under coach Mike Candrea.

This book was written because of Mary's love of softball especially OU Softball. There was no book written about the best softball coach, male or female, in the country. The Patty Gasso story needed to be told. Her impact on softball and on breaking the glass ceiling with her coaching salary has catapulted women's sports to the next level. Four National Championships in a row??? Can she win Five? If anyone can, Patty can!
