Heather Cooper was both in northern Lancashire, is now living on the Isle of Wight, and much attached to both these beautiful places. She worked in the printing and publishing industries and then for the NHS before beginning her writing career. Her first novel, Stealing Roses, is historical fiction, set on the Isle of Wight in the 1860s. This has been published in Germany (as Die Zeit der Rose) by Goldmann and in the UK by Allison & Busby. Her latest novel, Arresting Beauty, will be published by Beachy Books at the end of September. Also set on the Isle of Wight, it tells the extraordinary true story of Mary Ryan, parlourmaid, model and muse to celebrated photographer Julia Margaret Cameron.
