Gautham Rao is an award-winning historian of American law and politics. He is a professor at American University in Washington, D.C., where he teaches classes about the Constitution, the founding era, slavery, and the philosophy of history. He also teaches a course about 1990s politics through the television show The West Wing, which is soon to become a book. He is currently working on a constitutional history of the Confederate States of America. He has written op-eds in major outlets. In his spare time, he spends time with his family and his two cats, Rollie Fingers and Stevie G. He's also an obsessive fan of the New York Mets and Liverpool Football Club.
