Dr. Gary Probst is a Licensed Professional Counselor who utilizes Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solutions Focused Therapy. He has a doctoral degree in psychology from California Southern University and graduate degrees in Professional Counseling and Management and Leadership from Liberty University. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Probst is a professor with the Counselor Education departments at Grand Canyon University and Liberty University, the Executive Director of a Wisconsin-based nonprofit counseling organization, and a statewide psychological health care cooperative board member. Coaching a large group of counselors and students on issues of teen anxiety, Dr. Probst and his team assist young people with problems including self-harm, self-esteem, worthlessness and hopelessness, and suicidal ideation. His team uses an elevating approach to help teens understand their value as people and to see themselves positively. It uses a combination of counseling methods, including Group Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Art Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Dr. Probst and his team have countered the negative beliefs of thousands of teen anxiety patients, and their tried and tested methods are a basis for the insights in this book. Dr. Probst lives in Hartford, Wisconsin with his wife, Karen, and their Welsh Corgi, Mia, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Bella.
