Doc List grew up in an apartment in Manhattan, NYC with his older brother and their mother. In their teens, Doc and his older brother David fell in love with photography and set up a darkroom in a closet, short hallway, and the bathroom. Doc's love for photography never stopped, progressing from their home darkroom to a minor in Fine Arts at Hofstra University. After completing college at Hofstra University in Hempstead, Long Island, New York, Doc escaped from NY and moved to San Francisco. One month after moving to SF Doc met Debbie who would ultimately become his wife, the mother of their children, and his partner for life. Doc's major in college was Psychology since he planned to follow in the footsteps of his father's father, his father, and his aunt. After moving to San Francisco and meeting Debbie, Doc began work on a Master's degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. While pursuing that Master's degree Doc fell into a job in the computer industry, became a programmer, designer, architect, and ultimately held almost every role in a software/IT organization including being CEO of his own Silicon Valley consulting company. During his career in the software/IT space Doc has focused on leadership, communication, and building high performing teams. He has been speaking at conferences since the 80s, including becoming a recognized expert in the field of Agile Software Development. Doc continues to speak at conferences in the Agile space. As Doc and Debbie progressed through life they had four children together. Between working at technology startup companies in Silicon Valley and having a family, Doc's passion for photography took a back seat until... In 2007 Debbie gave Doc a small but significant pile of $100 bills for his birthday and said "go get what you want". Doc had been talking about having a "real camera" again and immediately ran out to Precision Camera and Video in Austin, Texas, where they were living, and bought a Canon Rebel XTi. In the last few years, Doc has continued to pursue his consulting career in assisting organizations in transforming the way they work and the way they think while also building a business and a reputation as a professional photographer. Doc has created one project - the Austin Bodies Project - in which he has produced the first volume: "Doc List's Austin Bodies Project: The Light Sessions". He is planning on additional volumes in the series. He is currently working on another project, Doc List's Austin Dance Project, which allows him to combine his love of photography with his passion for dance and dancers. As of this writing Doc's next non-photography book - "Lightbringers and Lamplighters" - is being prepared for print and should be out no later than Fall of 2018.
