In my first work, Customer Success is Key, I tell the story of how a small manufacturing company embraced the coming Internet of Things (IoT) revolution and transitioned from a once and done hardware sales model to a smart connected products services provider. We re-invented our customer engagement strategies to generate and manage over $2 million in recurring software revenue. $2 million is a relative amount depending on who is reading the book, however, for us as a small company it amounted to about 35% of our total revenue which is huge.
