I would describe myself as an avid reader and audiobook junkie. I mostly enjoy non-fiction works with an emphasis on (business & technology) & (personal & professional development) with the occasional black ops Clancy type novel thrown into the mix. I'm a huge fan of Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing and Audible.com (acx platform) because I believe most people are walking around with great stories and invaluable experiences buried within them that should be shared with the world. Without these innovative platforms streamlining the publishing process many of these works would go undiscovered. It's an exciting time to be an author...and a reader/listener. In my first work, Customer Success is Key, I tell the story of how a small manufacturing company embraced the coming Internet of Things (IoT) revolution and transitioned from a once and done hardware sales model to a smart connected products services provider. We re-invented our customer engagement strategies to generate and manage over $2 million in recurring software revenue. $2 million is a relative amount depending on who is reading the book, however, for us as a small company it amounted to about 35% of our total revenue which is huge. Manufacturers of all sizes will be looking to avoid the commoditization trap by adding web-based services to their core product lines.
