More than 300,000 professionals worldwide have learned with Axel Rittershaus. He coaches senior leaders, speaks at conferences, and creates online courses on leadership and AI. Axel has been teaching managers how to work with AI since 2019, when many still considered it an IT topic.

His clients benefit from the fact, that Axel Rittershaus wrote code long before he coached his first executive, and his unique combination of IT and tech know-how with 30+ years of leadership and 20+ years of executive coaching experience.

He started as a software developer, built his own IT company in Germany, and spent years as a senior manager at a local IT consultancy and at Accenture. Along the way, he learned how organizations work and how easily a leader’s day can fill up with everything except leadership.

That observation is at the heart of The Human Router, his first book in English. It grew out of years of coaching senior leaders who were busy from morning to night and quietly wondered how much of that was actually leadership.

In his coaching and writing, he asks difficult questions and says uncomfortable things in ways people can hear. He would rather help you rethink a problem than hand you a comfortable answer.

Axel lives in Franschhoek, South Africa. Away from work, he runs ultramarathons, walks in nature with his wife and their dogs, or looks for art.

The elephants, wild dogs, and vultures in his book come from his neighborhood. Give or take a few hundred kilometers.
