Ania Szado's novel STUDIO SAINT-EX (Knopf) debuted in Canada (Penguin) in April 2013 as a national bestseller. Her novel BEGINNING OF WAS was listed for the Commonwealth Writers' Prize, Best First Book (Canada/Caribbean) and the international Kiriyama Prize. Her short fiction has been anthologized and has appeared in numerous literary magazines. A resident of Toronto, Szado has a background in visual art. She teaches writing and mentors writers one-on-one, and is the 2013 Writer in Residence for Whistler, British Columbia.
