Alaina G. Levine is a science and engineering careers consultant, science and engineering writer, professional speaker and corporate comedian. She is excited about her new book, Networking for Nerds, which is on networking strategies for scientists, engineers, and other introverts and networking novices, which is published by Wiley. As President of Quantum Success Solutions, a career consulting enterprise with a focus on advancing the professional development expertise of scientists and engineers, she has been advising emerging and established scientists and engineers about their careers for over 15 years, and has consulted with tens of thousands of early- and mid-career scientific and engineering professionals. The author of over 200 articles pertaining to science, science careers and business in such publications as Science, Nature, the World Economic Forum, Smithsonian, Scientific American Online, IEEE Spectrum, New Scientist, and COSMOS, Levine also pens the career columns for Physics Today and the American Physical Society's national publication, APS News, for which she serves as a Contributing Correspondent. Previously, she served as a Contributor to National Geographic. A prolific speaker and comedian, Levine has presented over 600 keynotes, workshops, and webinars for clients throughout the US, Canada, Mexico and the European Union. She is a sought after, lively, energetic and entertaining speaker on any topic relating to how to find, land and keep your dream job. In the 2000s, she directed the Professional Science Master’s in applied science and business programs and taught entrepreneurship to science and engineering graduate students at the University of Arizona (UA). Levine holds degrees in mathematics and anthropology from the UA, studied abroad at the American University in Cairo as a DoD National Security Education Program/Boren Fellow, and pursued grant-funded research in cosmology and mathematics history. She also has been honored as a Logan Science Journalism Fellow at the Marine Biological Laboratory, a Robert Bosch Stiftung Science Journalism Fellow, and an Institutes for Journalism & Natural Resources Fellow. In addition, Levine is an award-winning entrepreneur, and was named Tucson Leader of the Year, an honor previously bestowed upon former US Surgeon General Richard Carmona, and a Tucson 40 Under 40 Leader, an honor also bestowed upon former US Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords the same year.
